You’re not going to run out of exciting things to do and places to go in Dorset, but when...
As we see not one, but two bank holidays this month, the county of Wiltshire is preparing to celebrate with a whole host of great activities and events to attract families across the country. From folk festivals to be enjoyed by all ages to ale and cider festivals that show off the very best local produce, there are still deals to be had on half term English country cottages so you can attend our top Wiltshire events this month.
Those who come to the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire to taste the fine local produce it is famous for are in for a treat this month, with the Marlborough Food & Drink Festival taking place over the 16th and 17th May. There will be over 100 individual local and regional exhibitors, with Jack Stein, son of famed TV chef Rick Stein, cooking up a storm in the Festival kitchen. Jack Stein is a top chef in his own right as the executive chef of the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
While there is plenty of music to enjoy in addition to the food and drink at Marlborough, the Chippenham Folk Festival looks to satisfy all your music listening needs as it enters its 44th year. The festival offers over 200 individual events and workshops throughout the Spring Bank Holiday between the 22nd and 25th May, and is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.
If you can divide your time over the bank holiday weekend then be sure to head over to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway Real Ale & Cider Festival between the 23rd and 25th May in Blunsdon. Entry is just £5 and includes your pint glass, which you can use to sample a range of ales and ciders from the local and surrounding area. The railway also makes for a great family day out at any time of year, being in close proximity to some of the best Wiltshire holiday cottages, so why not take the kids along to see some authentic vintage steam trains?
