Purbeck Film Festival to entertain Dorset

The longest running rural film festival in the country is ready to raise the curtain again this year. The Purbeck Film Festival in Dorset will be celebrating “the Universal Emotion of Love” through film, study and discussions.

Running from 16-31 October, the film festival is expecting to welcome more than 4,000 people to the region. Film screenings will take place at the Rex Cinema, local arts centres, and other locations. Organisers will turn pubs, village halls, hotels, shops, homes, and even castles into unique cinema experiences. The event includes special film introductions, guests, production notes, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Tickets can be purchased online from the website, from the Discover Purbeck Information Centre, Swanage Tourist Information Centre, or directly from the venue for some local films.

With messages of love being this year’s focal point, the event is bringing together some of cinema’s biggest love stories. There will a presentation of Gone with the Wind and The Notebook. Other films include: The Tales of Hoffman, Tosca, Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet, X + Y, Smiles of a Summer Night, and Now, Voyager.

There will also be screenings of 500 Days of Summer, A Short Film About Love, Dukhtar, Ghost, The Little Death, Far from the Madding Crowd, and Casablanca.

In addition to venues in Purbeck, the festival has expanded to Poole and Bournemouth as well. There will be presentations at Lighthouse in Poole and Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth. At all times of the year, Dorset is a premier destination for those looking for fantastic cottage holidays.
