The picturesque town of Poole has long been an attraction for British holidaymakers hoping to experience the very best the British seaside has to offer whilst boasting some of the most historical traditions in the UK.
A staunch pillar of Poole’s rich history, their town crier David Squire has recently celebrated 54 years service, which was honoured by his peers as they paraded through the coastal resort this week.
One of only 150 town criers left in the UK and the second longest-serving in the world, Mr Squire was presented with a certificate and a medal for meritorious service by the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers.
Labelled an ‘extraordinary man’ by Cllr Judy Butt, Mr Squire has ingrained himself into the identity of Poole and the town’s way of life.
Why not see if you can catch Mr Squire in action whilst enjoying a brilliant British break on your Dorset cottage holidays this summer?
