Paddington Bear is set to visit a number of attractions across Dorset over the next couple of months as part of a new campaign to promote Britain to international visitors.
People residing in Dorset holiday cottages this month and next month may well get a glimpse of the famous bear as he has been and will be visiting some of the county’s most popular attractions.
Just this week, Paddington Bear was spotted outside Sherborne Abbey, but the bear from Peru will be visiting a number of places in Dorset after the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership and VisitBritain teams partnered to promote Britain as a great destination off the back of the new Paddington film, which you can see a trailer of below.
Dorset chosen to host Paddington Bear
As a result of Dorset being chosen to host the world-famous bear, the Visit Dorset team will be sharing photos of Paddington Bear’s adventures and visits to the top attractions in Dorset via their social accounts by using the hashtag #PaddingtonsBritain.
So far, Paddington Bear has built a sandcastle on Weymouth Beach, taken a selfie at the Portland Bill lighthouse, visited Portland’s Olympic Rings, browsed around the Dorchester Teddy Bear Museum and had a look around the filming location for the ITV drama Broadchurch at West Bay.
Nick Thornley, from the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership, told the Western Gazette, “We are delighted to welcome Paddington to Dorset and are thrilled to be working with VisitBritain on this engaging national campaign. Paddington’s well known love of exploring new places makes him the perfect icon for inspiring visitors to discover all that is great about Dorset.”
