Are you planning on visiting Hampshire and The New Forest this summer? You’re in for a treat with all...
Those staying in Wiltshire cottages who fancy trying their hand at archaeology are in for a treat this month. At Old Sarum on 28th and 29th July it will be Archaeology Weekend, a hands-on celebration of the Festival of British Archaeology.
Archaeology Weekend is a popular annual event that has been running for years. The event gives visitors to the area the opportunity to spend time with an archaeologist who can unveil the history behind artefacts discovered on the site of Old Sarum, an Iron Age hill fort.
With a free guided tour, mini-dig experience and the chance to handle real and replica discoveries from the local area, 5000 years of history come to life at this fantastic event.
Tickets for adults are £3.80 and £2.30 for children. Booking in advance is unnecessary so simply pop down to the mighty fort for a day of intrigue and adventure at this landmark of English Heritage.
