Ludlow is a wonderfully preserved walled town dating from Norman times and containing around 500 listed buildings. It is dominated by a ruined castle which has featured prominently in the town’s history. Nowadays it is a mecca for antique hunters and ‘foodies’ and offers a wide range of individual speciality shops. With its festivals and art and music events it fully deserves the accolade from Country Life of ‘most vibrant small town in England’. Hideaways has several exceptional holiday cottages in and around Ludlow, one of them a character cottage close to the sole remaining gate into the town and very convenient for all its amenities.
