Introduction

Midway between Penzance and St Ives, just above the village of Ludgvan, The Tea House enjoys a magical setting overlooking a lily pond in the owner’s fascinating four-acre garden which is full of rare and exotic plants and shrubs. Sited away from the two other properties at this location, it is accessed via its own driveway and is extremely private and tranquil.

The exceptionally peaceful setting means that visitors may wish just to sit and enjoy the surroundings but there is also much to explore in this area. Mount’s Bay is approx. 5 minutes’ drive, where Marazion Beach provides access via a causeway at low tide or by boat at high tide to the stunning St. Michael’s Mount with its medieval castle and sub-tropical gardens. Land’s End, Cape Cornwall, Sennen Cove and St Ives (famous for its artists’ community and offering several 'Blue Flag' beaches) are easy destinations, and there are superb coastal walks and numerous ancient houses and gardens to enjoy. There are also a number of locations nearby used for the popular Poldark television serial.

Carefully converted from the owner’s original artist’s studio and based on an oriental tea house, the structure has a simple layout and blends perfectly into its almost tropical setting. A large deck area provides the perfect place to sit and relax, absorbing the views of the pond and surrounding garden.

Accommodation

Entrance from the deck via double French doors into a fitted kitchen with granite workstation and glass-topped dining table. Attractive sitting room with lofty beamed ceiling, comfortable seating, antique oriental pieces, polished bamboo floor and triple-aspect windows. Further door to patio. Bedroom with double bed and antique wardrobe. Fine views over the garden. En suite wet room/wc with big walk-in shower, marble floor and basin.

Outside: large deck with cane furniture overlooking the lily pond. Patio with granite Buddha feature, Bonsai maple and access to separate parking area. Picnic table and granite seat by the entrance with fine views over a wild valley. Guests at The Tea House can also explore the owner's superb sub-tropical garden below, which contains many rare and exotic plants from around the world and which is a haven for wildlife. Complementary tours of the garden can be arranged.

What our guests say

Bliss!

What an ideal setting and location. Sue (the owner) has created a blissful and secluded retreat with The Tea House. It's a great place to stay where the only noises you can hear are the birds, the breeze and the stream babbling down through the woods. It's situated close enough to beaches and towns like St Ives (15 minutes) and only 40 minutes from Truro, if you're missing the City life.

Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 23 July 2017. 5 of 5 stars.

Many thanks Sue - we have enjoyed our week in the Tea House - so peaceful and different. Good weather apart from Tuesday. Excellent gardens close by and visits to various other attractions.

Peaceful and Relaxing

The perfect little hideaway. Very relaxing and in an amazing setting. Lovely to be able to sit out on the verandah and not hear anything but birdsong. A short drive to the A30 means the lovely beaches nearby can be reached easily. An absolute gem and a credit to Sue's (the owner) vision. Being able to look up at a tree fern whilst I shower is a first for me! Will definitely be back.
