At the end of a long farm track, deep in the West Sussex countryside, The Summer House enjoys an idyllic setting overlooking the garden of a Grade II listed, 16th century farmhouse. Offering ample privacy to its guests, it provides the perfect retreat for a couple wishing to explore this highly attractive part of southern England.

The surrounding area, part of the South Downs National Park, provides limitless opportunities for walking, with immediate access across the owner’s fields onto public footpaths - map provided. The Summer House also provides easy access to the wide variety of attractions in this part of Sussex; the historic towns of Petworth (antique shops and Petworth House), Midhurst (polo and golf at Cowdray Park), Arundel (12th century castle and Catholic cathedral) and Goodwood with its year-round calendar of events are all within 30 - 40 minutes’ drive. The cathedral city of Chichester, Chichester Harbour, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and West Sussex’s beaches are a little further.

For shopping, the market town of Haslemere, on the borders of Surrey and Sussex, is 11 miles away and also provides a 50 minute rail link to London. Nearby villages provide a good selection of country pubs.

Although ‘bijou’, The Summer House’s thoughtfully designed interior, decorated in a subtle palette of Farrow and Ball colours and furnished in a simple, contemporary style, has a sense of light and space. A woodburner in the sitting room provides warmth and cosiness during the winter months. This is a special place to stay in beautiful surroundings whatever the season.

This is all at ground floor level. Entrance into a small hallway/utility area. Sitting room with woodburning stove. Well-equipped galley kitchen. Separate dining room. Bedroom with zip & link beds providing a choice of super kingsize double or twin beds. Shower room/wc with walk-in shower.

Immediately outside The Summer House there’s a private, sunny, brick and stone paved terrace - barbecue provided. Access to the surrounding fields off the driveway.

The Summer House is the perfect retreat

This is a lovely little cottage hidden away off the beaten track. The ambience, setting, decor and facilities were excellent. The owner was really helpful and very charming. If you're looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings, where you walk from the front door on to fields and see deer from the kitchen window, then this is the spot for you. I highly recommend the Summer House.

The hideaway

Needing a short break this cottage was ideal. The amenities were first class and the owners greeting set us up for what was a restful stay. It is ideally situated with top quality goods such as cutlery, crockery, towels etc. For us a great way to take a few days out.

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely Summer House and for your warm welcome. It is the perfect location to relax and unwind, away from a busy life. We loved watching the birds that come into your garden each day and even managed to see some deer when walking across the fields. We hope to return at some point. Thanks again.

We enjoyed a wonderful few days in this lovely part of the world. The Summer House was home from home, and Jose the perfect hostess. We will certainly be back!
