Set in the pretty, rolling countryside between Exmoor and the Quantock Hills, one mile from the small town of Wiveliscombe, The Studio at Lower Grants Farmhouse sits beside a quiet lane and looks out across a large lawn with long views southwards over fields beyond, bounded by a stream. The location is perfect for exploring this interesting region which is criss-crossed by tranquil footpaths and cycle routes and yet is within half an hour of the county town of Taunton with all its facilities. Wellington, only a few miles away, is well worth a visit, and for a day’s outing the coast with its many wide beaches and South West Coast Path, the rugged landscape of Exmoor with steep coombes and hidden coves, and the lesser-known, very attractive hills of the Quantocks are all within easy reach. For steam enthusiasts the West Somerset Railway runs through delightful countryside and should not be missed.

The Studio forms a wing of the main farmhouse but has a separate driveway and entrance. Inside, the owners have created a very attractive space with a galley kitchen, a large, light living room with sitting, eating and sleeping areas and a modern shower room while outside the garden is exceptionally large. Altogether The Studio provides a very welcoming and comfortable base from which to explore this unspoilt part of West Somerset.

Entrance from front of building into small lobby and galley kitchen with table-top elec. cooker (2 rings, oven, and grill). Main room with large futon sofa for alternative sleeping, double bed and dining table. Separate shower room/wc.

Outside, patio and large lawned area extending down into a field and affording long restful views across rolling countryside. Delightfully cosy summerhouse just beyond the studio which is perfect for relaxing and admiring the views, or even as an alternative place to eat.

What our guests say

Perfect pet-friendly cottage

We had a 5 night stay at this immaculate cottage and loved every minute of it! The owners were lovely and the location was stunning, a perfect view in a peaceful location. The local town was only a 20 minute walk through fields and footpaths and the location was perfectly placed for our days out. Our dog absolutely loved running around in the huge field and we were all made to feel extremely welcome. We will definitely be returning very soon!

A wonderful place to stay, very cosy home and welcoming owners Michèle and Tony.

We were very delighted to have been able to rent the Studio, Lower Grants in July and August 2016. It is a very clean and well maintained little cottage, with pretty surroundings (hills with sheep) and charming views. The owners are very nice and friendly people. The cottage is well equiped with a kitchinette to enable you to cook. We do recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to spend a restful and peaceful countryside holiday.

A perfect cosy retreat for a couple wanting to get away!

The Studio has fresh new facilities and a wonderful outlook. It is off the beaten track. Our prerequisite was to make sure a decent local pub was nearby and Wiveliscombe did not disappoint on that either. The Studio is a decent 20 mins walk down country lanes to the pubs and shops. So if you want a bolt hole hideaway for a weekend or a week, then I'm sure you will be happy here.
