Introduction

Perched above a ‘Heritage’ garage near the top end of the tiny hamlet of Stoke Trister, The Studio is a delightfully ‘quirky’ retreat enjoying fine far-reaching views over the Blackmore Vale. Visitors may prefer just to relax on the balcony or enjoy the interesting local walks; but the peaceful, rural nature of the place belies the easy access to the multitude of attractions in the surrounding area. The world-famous, landscaped gardens at Stourhead and the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury are both within 15 minutes’ drive, while the cathedral city of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Longleat, Georgian Bath and Sherborne, with its abundance of medieval buildings, abbey and castles, are all reachable in an hour or less.

Consisting of one large open-plan room with steeply sloping walls, The Studio offers a comfortable and stylish ‘hideaway’ in very attractive surroundings, perfect for a brief escape from the world in this interesting area. It is situated in the grounds of a larger house but is far enough away to ensure privacy to its guests.

Entrance via a flight of wooden steps to small, south-facing balcony and thence through glass doors to open-plan living space. Had a wonderful, relaxing week, breakfast every morning admiring the wonderful view of the vale. Lovely cottage with all mod cons! The weather was also kind - better than abroad!

What a perfect retreat - that priceless view - better than the photo suggested and such lovely hosts.

Mr Miller, June 2017

Wow, what a lovely place, we wore ourselves out. The kind owners said we could use their garden to play ball and run around. They also kindly left us some doggie chews and our owners some cider and biscuits. We visited lots of lovely places and did lots of walking and playing. Our dad owner was on the verandah nearly all the time. All in all a lovely place to stay with views to die for. Wonderful places to visit and lovely welcoming people. Thank you so much.

Just to say thank you for a wonderful stay this weekend. We've fallen in love with The Studio and that view! Really impressed with The Studio and what you have done with the space. Thanks for all the little touches too! We can't believe how lucky we were with the weather and are heading back to London thoroughly refreshed. We''ll be highly recommending you to family and friends and will be sure to leave a glowing review on the Hideaways site.

Absolutely beautiful!

Me and my partner stayed here in June last year. The views were beautiful, and it is very close to some amazing restaurants and shops. Plus only an hour away from amazing places to visit. The apartment was very clean, and we both loved the way they left some goodies for us for when we arrive. Was very thoughtful. We both will definitely be back. Thank you.

Lovely accommodation, comfortable and very clean

Owners very helpful and we were able to use their garden much appreciated by our dog Daisy. Wonderful views, in excellent position for visiting Dorset.

Room with a view!

Booking the accommodation was very easy and the directions clear and precise. Our welcome gifts were very much appreciated and the view is awesome. Property owner was very lovely and we will most certainly be returning for another quick break. Property was spotless and cosy. We had a really nice time.

I had a wonderful time here and the weather was very good to me. If you're a cider drinker, walk down to the Unicorn pub; he has won adwards. Jane is a very special lady and my dogs enjoyed the company of some visiting doggies. Thank you. Will return.

Perfect for a relaxing break

Having travelled though this part of the country on many occasions it was a revelation, the epitome of England's green and pleasant land. The views from the balcony are exceptional, the owners are very pleasant and The Studio is very comfortable. Above all, the welcome that Somerset provides is something that I will treasure!

Beautiful and very special

We have just got back from 4 days at The Studio. It is truly spectacular with absolutely incredible views. We took our 2 whippet dogs with us and did lots of long walks, right from door of The Studio - there are so many footpaths to explore within 5 minutes walking distance of the property. It was wonderful to come back to after a day out in the fresh air in the surrounding landscape, sit down on the sofa with a cup of tea and look out across the beautiful scenery. It is a magical place to stay. The owners are lovely and more than happy to do anything for you. Everything you'll need is provided in The Studio. If you have the opportunity to stay here, please do, you won't regret it. We're certainly going to be returning!

Beautiful location

Accommodation set in beautiful rural location - The Studio has everything you need, and the balcony on a sunny day is lovely. Views out over the landscape are amazing. The host was lovely and very welcoming. The location is great for exploring Stourhead, Glastonbury and the pretty villages around.
