Introduction

A quarter of a mile along an ancient Ox Drove, right on the borders of Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire, the Pink Tower commands panoramic views over the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from its cleverly designed 1st floor sitting room and ‘look-out’ balcony. The land immediately surrounding the tower and owner’s adjoining cottage is part of a working farm (pigs and sheep) and the owner herself keeps ducks and horses. If you enjoy walking, riding or cycling this location is made for you with immediate access onto the Ox Drove, which extends for miles along a chalk ridge and offers stunning panoramas to the north over South Wiltshire’s chalk valleys and downland and to the south across Hampshire and Dorset.

Within easy driving distance are a whole host of visitor attractions – Wilton House, Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead, the cathedral city of Salisbury and the World Heritage city of Bath. The New Forest is only about 20 minutes away while Dorset’s “Jurassic” coastline is a must for a day’s excursion. More locally there are many picture-book villages with fine houses, ancient churches and good country pubs to discover.

The Pink Tower is octagonal in shape and provides unusual, interesting and highly attractive accommodation. The owner, a garden designer, has also brought her talents to bear in creating a pretty cottage garden with beds of roses and lavender.

The Pink Tower was featured in The Guardian Travel series "Cool Cottages in the UK" - see link below.

Location

What our guests say

Perfect winter stay location!

We stayed at the Pink Tower over Christmas. We were looking forward to it, my one reservation was that while it looked an absolutely dreamlike location for the summer months it might be a bit cramped if it was too cold and we had to stay indoors. We were completely wrong, the Pink Tower is so cleverly designed there is lots of room for two people to spread out and enjoy themselves and it was warm and very snug. Perfectly located on the Dorset Downs, you can strike out fas easily for the Dorset Coast, or the New Forest or up into the Cotswolds. There are also plenty of great pubs within a 15 minute drive (our favourite was The Museum in Farnham). But the unexpected highlight of our visit; waking up each morning at around 8am, and having coffee while draped on the sofa in the upstairs living room, and watching the sun slowly rise above the mist with magical light coming in via the spacious windows. Highly recommended place.

Beautiful spot and property. Lovely week spent here in February.

Booked this cottage for a chill out week with our dog having just retired. Was lovely, comfortable and warm with superb walks straight from the door. Although we stayed during a period of very strong winds the cottage was lovely and warm with no drafts. Really cosy and relaxing. Beautiful area and we also travelled out to visit Stonehenge, Studland Bay and Stourhead NT property all within reasonable driving distance. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay were included in the cottage and there were several local pubs within easy reach providing good evening meals. The pub at Broadchalke is within easy reach and a lovely walk down the bridleways and back, of around 2 miles each way, to stop off at the pub was very enjoyable. Many other circular walks straight from the door were possible along the Ox Drove, footpaths and bridleways along the chalk downs, riverside and woods. We had a fantastic and really enjoyable stay here.

The accommodation met or exceeded our every expectation. Linda's hospitality was excellent and she provided much helpful advice about enjoying the locality as well as ensuring our accommodation was comfortable. The booking service from Hideaways was efficient and courteous. We would recommend Hideaways and The Pink Tower to any friends travelling to Wiltshire.

Excellent service from Hideaways. The Pink Tower was really splendid, tastefully decorated and clean with the most spectacular views. Also the owner was extremely nice and made us feel most welcome. Would definitely recommend it!

Just a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our 3 night break this week in The Pink Tower. The accommodation was really lovely---a real “get away from it all” venue. The upstairs living area is spectacular---something totally different, which is what we were looking for.

The Pink Tower is a lovely place to stay with everything you could want or need provided. The owners are absolutely delightful and couldn't have done enough for us, but were not at all intrusive. The perferct balance. The Tower is set on a working farm with brilliant views and attractive walks. We found the locals and the village of Broadchalke to be very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend The Pink Tower!
