Introduction

The Old Dairy is situated on a 60 acre farm where the owners keep sheep, cattle, chickens and ducks, in the heart of rolling Hampshire countryside, a mile and a half from the pretty village of West Tytherley. This is a great venue for large family get-togethers and special celebrations. There is plenty to interest children, who can be shown round the farm to see the animals. Fresh eggs are on sale at the farmhouse.

There is much to see and do in the surrounding area. Within half an hour's drive are the historic cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, Broadlands House, former home of Lord Mountbatten, Mottisfont Abbey and Garden, Marwell Zoo, Stonehenge and The New Forest, ideal for walking, riding, cycling and picnics. Also within easy driving distance is Portsmouth, home of the Tudor warship, The Mary Rose, and Nelson's H.M.S. Victory.

The Old Dairy has been converted with care from the former dairy, providing very spacious accommodation and retaining much of its original character, with many exposed beams, timberwork and interior brick walls. There are old pine and flagstone floors with rugs, and furnishings which reflect the more rustic style of a country barn.

What our guests say

Grandpa's 70th birthday

We booked the Old Dairy to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday and the accommodation provided at this cottage was perfect. The owners were very helpful in our arrival and welcomed us to enjoy the farm. The children loved waking up to the sound of horses and being free to visit the chickens, donkeys and ponies. The accommodation was large enough for each family to have their own space and the well equipped kitchen enabled us to self cater, and enjoy the large dining area. The location is ideal for visiting the New Forest, we wished we'd stayed longer to see more. Be prepared for no WiFi (although I think the owners are looking into this). It didn't bother us, but you need to be prepared for this.

Thank you very much for letting out The Old Dairy to our family last weekend. We had a fabulous time & my husband had a truly fantastic 70th birthday with his children & grandchildren. The accommodation was perfect, very cosy and warm; we were most impressed with how well equipped the kitchen is. The children loved seeing the horses in the mornings. Lastly I would like to thank you for the most delicious farm fresh eggs - A REAL TREAT - With best wishes.

We had a wonderful time at The Old Dairy. Everyone from our two year old grandson to the now 70 year old grandad had a brilliant time. The house is really lovely and it was just perfect for our celebration.

We had a most enjoyable weekend and we all slept so well. The children could not believe the spaciousness and the weather was kind enough to let them run around outside. They had a great time.

Many thanks Irene, John, Duncan and Dave (their little dog!) Our grandchildren enjoyed staying in a working farmyard! Duncan kindly showed them the sheep, chickens, cattle and horses. Their fresh eggs would put any supermarket to shame! It had loads of room for our three families and the children had great fun together playing football outside and charades in the enormous lounge! There were no midnight feasts as the floor boards were a little creaky. It was easy distance to all the Cathedral Cities, Peppa Pig World the South Coast and lots of National Trust properties. We were made very welcome and would like to thank the family for a super holiday.

Thanks for helping arrange our weekend away at The Old Dairy; it was a fantastic location and we really enjoyed our stay there, definitely somewhere we'll stay again.
