Introduction

This is a charming cottage situated in a small mews just off the High Street in the South Wiltshire village of Tisbury. Tisbury has a useful range of local shops, pubs, a small leisure centre and a railway station with service direct to the west country and London (Waterloo).

Immediately surrounding the village on the borders of Wiltshire and Dorset is some of the finest countryside in southern England, which forms part of the Cranborne Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The landscape is dotted with attractive villages where many cottages are built of the same limestone used to build Salisbury Cathedral, itself just a 30 minute car journey or 20 minute train excursion from Tisbury. Other visitor attractions in the area are numerous - within an hour's drive are Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead Gardens, Wilton House, Old Wardour Castle, as well as the Georgian city of Bath, with its newly opened spa complex. The South Dorset coastline, now designated a World Heritage site, is also less than an hour's car journey away and certainly well worth exploring.

Accommodation

Tastefully furnished and decorated throughout with lots of personal touches, the cottage provides a very attractive and comfortable pied a terre. Its south facing rooms are light and sunny and from the upstairs windows there is a bird's eye view of the street's day-to-day activities. Outside there is a garden area with decking at the front of the cottage.

Enclosed entrance porch. Fitted kitchen with dining area and French windows to the garden area. Wide archway through to the sitting room with open fireplace containing a woodburning stove. Stairs (with handrail but partly open on one side) to first floor landing. Double bedroom with kingsize bed. Bathroom/wc with independent electric shower above the bath.

What our guests say

Lovely, cosy cottage for two

We stayed here for one week which just happened to coincide with Tisbury's annual carnival. The cottage is perfectly situated in a quiet mews just off the High Street and the town. Though small, it has everything you need for a good holiday. The cottage itself is delightful - cosy, warm, clean and well equipped. The owner's personal touches make it feel very homely. Lots to see within easy driving distance, and some lovely local walks. We particularly enjoyed our visit to Old Wardour Castle which is about ten minutes drive from Tisbury.

We have really enjoyed our week in your beautiful, cosy and homely cottage. The location is great and everything is within a short stroll. Lots to do and see; train service to Salisbury was excellent and Old Wardour Castle is worth a visit. We easily re-couped our National Trust subscription in the week! Thank you for the helpful advice and cards on arrival (and we did enjoy the Carnival!). Best regards.

Far from the madding crowd but with all the comforts of home at your fingertips!

The Mews Cottage in the heart of the gorgeous town of Tisbury is clean, comfortable, well equipped, quiet and a great base for country strolls in all directions. A private car parking space was an added bonus. We could not have chosen a better location for the final week of our UK holiday. Day trips to Dorset & the Jurrasic Coast, Blenheim and Portsmouth were easily achievable and of course some of Wiltshire's key attractions (Salisbury and Stonehenge) are very close by! What a great place!

The Mews is a beautiful cottage, beautifully renovated and very comfortable. I have been there already two times, and when I saw it on TripAdvisor I couldn't miss to write a review! The cottage is perfectly located: 5 minutes' walk from the train station and two steps away from the supermarket (and don't miss the delicatessen store!). You can't miss the Mews: it is so charming and cosy that I can wait to go back there for the third time next autumn! You can't miss it!

Every year we spend our holidays in our beloved England and mostly the houses we rent were good but your cottage is better: cosy, friendly, comfortable and clean. Thank you a lot.

We have had a great time in this lovely village in this pretty cottage. The bed was very comfortable and the decor throughout the cottage is delightful - clean & fresh throughout. The village of Tisbury has every amenity even though it's quite small.
