Introduction

At the end of a long private drive, The Log House stands peacefully in the grounds of the owner’s house overlooking an extensive, well maintained garden. This feels like the depths of the countryside yet the village of Child Okeford – two pubs, an organic farm shop, local art gallery and a fish & chip van on Thursday evenings - is within walking distance, ¾ mile away. Dorset’s wonderful hills and valleys are all around – the nearby ancient Iron Age hill forts of Hambledon Hill and Hod Hill as well as Bulbarrow Hill (900 feet above sea level) offer great walking, spectacular wild flowers and butterflies and sweeping views across the Cranborne Chase and Stour Valley.

Approximately 30 – 45 minutes’ drive directly south of here, Dorset’s World Heritage coastline from Poole Harbour in the east to Lyme Regis in the west is of course a must for a day’s excursion with so much to discover during a holiday in this area.

For local shopping and sightseeing the market town of Blandford is only 4 miles away while the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury and medieval town of Sherborne (abbey and castles) are 8 and 15 miles away respectively.

The Log House is a high quality, comfortably and tastefully furnished ‘home-from-home’, its abundance of wood and splashes of colour providing a definite Scandinavian feel. The veranda immediately in front provides an inviting space to relax and unwind or you can enjoy a barbecue on the private, lawned area behind the house.

Accommodation

(all ground floor): entrance up 6 wooden steps onto the veranda. Glass doors lead into a light, spacious sitting room which is open plan to the large, fully fitted and well equipped kitchen and dining areas at the other end of the house. Two bedrooms adjoin this area, one with a double bed and the other with a single. Separate shower room/wc.
