Visitors have direct access through the owner`s land to wonderful walks; and there is a huge variety of activities and places of interest within easy reach. For the outdoor enthusiast both the Severn and Wye rivers offer a wide range of sporting opportunities such as fishing, canoeing and even (at the right time) riding the Severn Bore! The Forest of Dean itself is full of historical remnants of industrial archaeology as well as attractive landscapes; and further afield but still within a comfortable day`s exploration are the cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester, Border castles such as Monmouth and Chepstow, and of course the Cotswolds with lovely stone villages and magnificent National Trust properties. The nearest town, Newnham on Severn, provides a range of local shops and is well worth visiting for its well-preserved Georgian buildings.
Rose Tree Cottage provides homely, comfortable and very light accommodation in a private setting with attractive grounds – a peaceful haven in this interesting and beautiful area.

A very pleasant cottage in an interesting area
The cottage is in a lovely position overlooking a little valley. We enjoyed watching the varied bird life and the sheep and goats in the fields. The cottage is well equipped and the owners, Lee and Jane, are very friendly and helpful. We found plenty to do during the two weeks of our stay and came away still wishing to see more.Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 18 November 2016. 4 of 5 stars.

A tranquil and relaxing place to stay with children
The owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Welcome basket/milk/wine was a lovely touch after our long journey. It was the best place we have stayed as a family on a holiday. The setting is off the beaten track which we loved and there were lots of animals - sheep, chickens, dogs, goats - which the children found entertaining. Lots of great places to hide in the beautiful, spacious garden - the kids could not find me in some places! The cottage is spacious and comfortable. Beautiful walks straight from the cottage. I recommend Flaxley Abbey and Welshpool Woods circular route. It is not far to the Forest of Dean from here either so easy to travel there.Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 21 August 2016. 5 of 5 stars.

Our third (and not last) holiday at Rose Tree Cottage
The first time we stayed at Rose Tree Cottage was just over a year ago. On arrival, we were impressed by breathtaking views, cute tidy garden, the warm, quirky cottage and a yummy welcome pack. The days after were filled with a lots of rain. Remarkably, it didn't bother us at all. We were just happy to snuggle inside the cottage, with short walks around in local woods. Our boys loved playing games (especially hide and seek as there were so many rooms and places to hide in), and playing on the trampoline, as well as interacting with the friendly animals (horses, cat, dogs, chickens, rabbits, goats, sheep) We all fallen in love with this particular place and couldn't believe how fast the time went by. Since than we have stayed in the Rose Tree Cottage two more times and we will be returning this summer again! If you go there, make sure to view this fabulous Bus conversion attraction. It is something you don't see very often. There is so much to explore and to do. From apple and pear picking in owner's orchard, to bird-watching to woodland walks, The owners are very friendly and helpful people, who offer full privacy to visitors. Rose Tree Cottage is unbelievably spacious, clean and well presented. Owners care about their visitors a lot, which is shown in small details like bunch of flowers in a vase, welcome-pack, leaving the heating on when it is colder or leaving some lights on if you're arriving late.Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 24 July 2016. 5 of 5 stars.
Peace and relaxation!
We spent a lovely week at Rose Tree Cottage. It was peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed great walks in the Forest of Dean & Wye Valley. We had a delicious welcome basket left for us full of treats which were a nice surprise and much appreciated. Plenty of logs were also available for the open fire and we made use of this in the evenings. We really enjoyed our break in this beautiful area.Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 06 July 2016, 4 of 5 stars
Cosy cottage, stunning views!
Spent a lovely week here in this cosy cottage in early November. The Autumn colours gave spectacular views from the garden of the cottage. Situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean it is easy to get to lots of different places. There was a Welcome pack for our arrival and a warm greeting from the owners who live next door. Great also that we could take our dog with us. The cottage is well equipped and also has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Such a treat to be able to light the log fire and make the living room warm and cosy. Especially as the evenings were staring to get more chilly. The cottage is very spacious. It is lovely to sit by the large landing area and look out at the wonderful views all around. There is an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. Many birds visiting the gardens. It is so peaceful in this setting. Lovely place if you want peace and quiet. I would highly recommend that if you stay in this cottage that you visit the Red Hart pub at Blaisdon. Always a friendly welcome. Lovely food and dogs are welcome in the bar area.Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 18 June 2016, 4 of 5 stars

A week of peace and quiet and lovely walks in the Forest of Dean & Wye Valley - bliss. Many thanks for your great cottage and for the treats which were a lovely surprise and much appreciated. We really enjoyed our break in this beautiful area. Wishing you both a happy & prosperous year ahead.Mr & Mrs Codling, January 2016.
Just wanted to say what a great time we had in your cottage last week. It's the most beautiful location and we had the best weather ever that I can remember having in The Forest. The cottage is very comfortable and the surrounding garden very pretty. Family members came to visit for afternoon tea one day and we all sat out admiring the view and enjoying the sun. We all agreed that we'd like to return to Rose Cottage.Mrs Conibear, September 2015
Spent a great week in this lovely well equipped cottage, with its warm welcome, cosy feel, peaceful location and fantastic views. My husband and I spent three lovely months at Rose Tree Cottage situated in the serene countryside near Gloucester. It was our haven, whether as a retreat to come back to after travelling to other spots, or as a quiet and peaceful home to relax in. We loved its atmosphere, its garden setting, its view across grassy fields with grazing ewes and lambs to the Forest of Dean, its locality at the end of one of the narrow windy lanes. Our landlords/hosts, who lived next door, couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant, and indeed, when it came time to go, we felt we were saying goodbye to friends. Every request was attended to immediately, and every effort made to ensure we got the best from our time there. We would love to return!Mr & Mrs Webster, May - August 2012
