Tucked away behind the owner’s house in a very private location on the edge of the walled village of Bathford, this former dairy has been skilfully converted to a high standard, creating an exceptionally attractive space. Its location is ideal for easy access to the Georgian city of Bath, less than 3 miles away, a World Heritage site with an abundance of attractions such as the famous Roman Baths, the new Thermae Bath Spa, Bath Abbey – and a great variety of museums, galleries, year-round festivals, craft markets, restaurants and high quality independent shops and boutiques. The Kennet and Avon Canal runs close by, with towpath walks and narrow boats for hire and the Cotswolds are within half an hour’s drive northwards. Bristol, Salisbury, Wells and Glastonbury are all interesting destinations for a day’s outing.

From the unusual approach via an ancient, narrow path and through an archway to a ‘secret’ patio, to the many original features of the building which dates from the early 17th century, Old Dairy Barn exudes character and style. There’s an impressive, beamed open-plan living room with inglenook on the ground floor and inspirational views across the valley towards the city from the main bedroom’s picture window upstairs.

Entrance along a paved pathway into a very attractive, double aspect, beamed, open-plan living room. Fully fitted and well equipped, ‘New England’ style kitchen area with solid oak worktops and Belfast sink; comfortable seating area around a stone fireplace with woodburning stove; dining area at far end. Original stone stairs lead directly up and into a large, double height, double bedroom with impressive original timberwork and stunning views. Access from this bedroom to the second bedroom with antique twin beds. Shower room/wc with extra large cubicle and with separate access from both bedrooms.

Outside: French windows from the main living area lead out onto a very private, walled patio garden at the front of the cottage.

Wonderful relaxing weekend

So pleased we found the Old Dairy Barn in Bathford, we wanted to get away from the daily grind and what a wonderful stay we had. Beautiful courtyard that our son enjoyed thoroughly, amazing views, cosy and charming little cottage. Maggie (the owner) was very helpful. I would highly recommend staying at the Old Dairy Barn.

Wonderful hideaway!

What a great find this little cottage was! We all spent a fab week here and the south facing courtyard was an amazing little sun trap to spend the early evening with a glass of wine. Amazing views! Very peaceful yet within a few minutes drive of Bath. Maggie (the owner) is lovely and very helpful. We loved it! If I had to find a negative it would only be that the one night we spent in the cottage all evening we had to play musical chairs as there were only 3 comfortable seats but it was still wonderful. We hope to return. Perfect base to get to our favourite UK city.

Perfect location and accommodations for visiting Bath and Cotswolds areas

We stayed at the Old Dairy Barn in November 2015 for five nights. It was the perfect location to visit Bath and the Cotswolds. The accommodations are perfectly charming and being able to have breakfast and then to prepare our picnic lunch was not only convenient but also made it more relaxing. The accommodation is located in a lovely village with a pub just a short 10 minute walk away. Maggie was very welcoming and she even mailed a cellphone charger that we had left behind. It was well maintained, very clean and had a great wood stove. I would highly recommend staying at Old Dairy Barn.

Very Comfortable Cottage

My husband and I had a wonderful week in the very comfortably furnished and well equipped cottage. There was plenty of space for the two of us with extra small touches which made the cottage feel warm and welcoming. The view from the bedroom window was superb. We were blessed with excellent weather so were able to make use of the small courtyard to sit in and have a few glasses of wine after a hard day's cycling!. The walk up the hill up to the cottage from the main road is steep but well worth it. We've rented many cottages in the UK and abroad and would definitely say that this was one of the best. The owner, Maggie, was very helpful indeed and provided everything need for a great holiday.

Beautiful character cottage perfect to explore Bath

This was a perfect retreat for us. Beautiful situation overlooking the church and the hills beyond. Lovely and quiet. After the bustle of Bath it was nice to come back to such a comfortable, well equipped cottage. The owner, Maggie, has a designer's eye for the interior. It reminded us of the Landmark Trust properties where we often have stayed. We will be back! Paul and Yvonne Harwood.

Lovely, cosy and comfortable cottage

Had a wonderful week with our toddler. The facilities were great and the proximity to Bath is wonderfully close but you far enough out to relax. We had a very relaxing and comfortable week. We were able to cater for ourselves as well as visit the great selection of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area. Maggie is a wonderful host and has a real "gem" of a cottage which we would definitely use again.

Magic Retreat

We spent the entire last week at this cottage and had a wonderful time. Tucked down a quiet lane in the sleepy village of Bathford, the cottage was the perfect retreat for our small family of three. Plenty of room to spread out in, full kitchen in which we prepared a few memorable meals, and a cast iron woodburning stove for atmosphere and flame inspiration. Close by is an access path to Brown's Folly, a pretty walk through the woods. This is a short distance from Bath, but has seclusion and privacy one would expect available only at a much greater distance. We will go back again.

I would go back again

It was better than the photos. The Old Dairy Barn is the most lovely accommodation. Close to Bath (if you don't have a car there is a bus stop close by). Very peaceful, beautiful and clean. Situated in an historic village. It has everything you would need. We based ourselves here for a week and were able to visit lots of beautiful little villages, Stonehenge and Bath. The village has a great pub down the lane from Old Dairy Barn plus a general store - all within walking distance. Maggie, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful.

The Old Barn, Bathford, is a real gem! It is in a great location, for Bath and surrounding areas, with two good pubs nearby. The barn itself is beautifully decorated and equipped, and spotlessly clean. Lovely shower too. It has everything you would need, and Maggie, the owner, was so friendly and helpful. The village is also friendly and very active. We will definitely go back again when we want a relaxing break, with good walking and great food.

A great cottage combining the best of the countryside and city

The Old Dairy Barn is located in peaceful and beautiful countryside outside Bath and is perfectly situated to enjoy the best of both the country and the city. Bath is easily accessible by car or bus and, if you like a reasonable walk, on foot. (The walk via Bathampton and along the canal to the centre of Bath is fantastic). There are plenty of amenities in and around the Bathford area including good pubs and local shops.

The cottage itself is fantastic. It's very well-maintained and equipped. The owner, Maggie, is very friendly and just next door if you need anything. The view from the bedroom window is stunning. If you're visiting in autumn or winter, the wood-burning stove is a fantastic way to keep cozy during the evenings. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our week in Bath.

Cosy accommodation with a superb view. Every comfort provided. For foreign visitors no need to to bring your own hairdryer or iron with you! Very pleasant, discreet owner. She will give you lots of useful information about what there is to see, places to eat, good restaurants. A great stay!

Wonderful days in Bath

Beautifully furnished and well equipped cottage with plenty of space to feel comfortable in, plus a spectacular view of the village church and bath in the background. We felt very welcome and completely at ease with Maggie. She helped us with plenty of sightseeing tips and showed us where to swim in the river. We received fresh strawberries and were greeted by the dog "Summer" every morning. It was a pity that were could only stay for a week. We hope to come back as soon as possible as that was one of our best holidays ever.

Fantastic country escape!

This is the perfect place to relax and recharge in the country. Just 10 minutes from Bath it's in a quiet rural village. The home itself is beautiful and perfectly decorated and appointed. Everything has been thought of. There are wonderful walks right from the house and the culture in Bath is close. Or just enjoy the view from the window over the old churchyard as you daydream about how you can buy a county home just like this. I highly recommend this home for anyone needing a place to recharge. It was plenty big for our family of four (2 teens) but would be lovely for a couple too. You'll love it!

Delightful cottage ideal for visiting Bath and surrounding areas

Lovely private cosy cottage, beautifully decorated with everything you could need. Fabulous views over the church and village from the main bedroom. Our host was extremely welcoming and very helpful with local information and things to do. Great location in this quite village but close enough to visit Bath city centre and surrounding areas. Lovely pub in walking distance and useful village shop with excellent croissants!! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!!

Hard to beat

Great cottage, great views and lovely host! We really enjoyed our stay here and if our 2 teenage daughters had their way we would have to stay until we flew back to Australia. I couldn't think of a better place to visit Bath from.

A lovely stay

Stayed here to recover immediately after our wedding, and had a fantastic time. Maggie and Summer were very welcoming hosts, and gave us a great introduction to the property and local area. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and very comfortable, kitted out with everything you need and a great view from the bedroom overlooking the village. It was easy enough to get into Bath for the attractions and some great local pubs, would highly recommend.

Lovely barn in a beautiful village

Barn is very nice, beautiful location in the village, 10 minutes' drive to Bath, lovely landscape, nice view on Sollisbury Hill. Accommodation is good, well equipped.

We had a very comfortable, happy stay

We absolutely loved our stay here. My son was taking part in Storm on the Lawn - a Bath youth theatre production of Robin Hood - and so we needed somewhere that was home from home and this was it. The barn has been beautifully converted from an artists studio and is very comfortable with lots of attention to detail. You will find yourself sitting on the upstairs windowsill looking out at the view for hours and the boys were happy with the basket of DVD films downstairs. The owner was extremely kind and helpful with lots of advice for places to go. You have to drive in and out of Bath but the traffic was very easy and you are close to the fantastic Two Tunnels Cycle ride. Would love to try a winter let as there is a wood burning stove.

Quality Accommodation with Spectacular Views

We (my husband, our fifteen year old daughter and I) found it to be a comfortable and convenient place to stay for our visit to Bath. It is a unique property and finished to a high specification. You do have to pass through the main bedroom to access the smaller one, but both rooms can access the bathroom independently. It is located walking distance from an excellent pub and is in a secure location. The owner was lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed Bath and our Old Dairy Barn stay very much.

3 days in Bath

We spent three nights in this lovely newly converted barn. It was really comfortable and well equipped with brand new appliances. Great views over Bath. Quiet and peaceful. A relaxing place to stay.
