Introduction

Tucked away down a small, traffic-free, no-through lane, just off Marazion’s main street, Greeb Rocks Cottage is the perfect coastal hideaway for a couple or a small family. Enjoying an elevated position near the top of the town, it affords stunning views across to St Michael’s Mount and over Mounts Bay.

The centre of Marazion is a few minutes’ walk away. This ancient market town offers a good choice of small shops, pubs, cafes and art galleries and has a sheltered sandy beach – about a mile long – with windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing all on offer. An absolute must during a stay at Greeb Rocks Cottage is a visit to St Michael’s Mount, home to the St Aubyn family since 1650 and now managed by the National Trust. This iconic rocky island can be reached by a stone causeway at low tide or small passenger craft at high tide. The island is crowned by a medieval church and castle surrounded by subtropical gardens below.

The south west corner of Cornwall is well known for its dramatic coastline with a huge number of places to explore – Lands End, Cape Cornwall, Sennen Cove are easy destinations and there are superb coastal walks and numerous ancient houses and gardens to enjoy. A short drive from Marazion, Penzance provides a varied selection of shops, supermarkets and seafood restaurants as well as a sea link to the Isles of Scilly.

Careful thought has gone into the design and décor of Greeb Rocks Cottage; this is a very cosy, atmospheric cottage, equally suitable for a summer holiday or out-of-season break. Absorb the open views of sea and sky whatever the weather from its extensive sun room or hole up in the cosy sitting room with its welcoming woodburner after a bracing coastal walk.

What our guests say

Late booking over New Year

Booked Greeb Rocks as a late booking over New Year 2016/17 for myself, my partner and our small dog. We couldn't have been happier, from the moment we arrived in Marazion driving along the coast and past the awe inspiring St Michael's Mount, to the moment we opened the cottage door into a warm welcoming kitchen with exceptional cider and homemade mince pies waiting on the table and the decorated Xmas tree in the snug lounge. The cottage was perfectly clean and comfortable and the view out on to the mount is just breathtaking. We didn't have the time to enjoy the garden but it looks wonderful as it leads down to the sea with nothing between the cottage and it. Whilst in Marazion we are at Ben's Cornish Kitchen which is as good as everyone told us it would be. (We'd booked in advance which is a must if you hope to find a table) We found Marazion to be a great base to discover the deep south west but a limited as a destination itself unless you are planning to walk the coastal path or need seclusion. Greeb Rocks Cottage though is perfect, warm cost and yards from the beach. We can't wait to return.
