Tucked away behind mature hedges and approached via a wooden footbridge over a small winterbourne (part-time stream), this is the archetypal ‘chocolate box’ thatched cottage, its instant visual appeal being amply justified both inside the house and in the delightful garden. Situated in the Wylye Valley, Foley’s Cottage is ideally located for exploring this beautiful area, steeped in history and full of magnificent landscapes and magical places to visit. Walkers, riders and cyclists are particularly well served by the multitude of footpaths, bridle and cycleways in this part of South Wiltshire and there is direct access onto the Wessex Ridgeway, which runs along the western boundary of the cottage. Further afield but still within easy reach by car are almost limitless attractions: Salisbury with its superb cathedral is about half an hour’s drive, with the New Forest beyond; Stonehenge, Longleat Safari Park, Stourhead and Wilton House are nearer still, and the Georgian city of Bath and the South Dorset coast are both less than an hour away.
For those wishing to relax at home, Foley’s Cottage could hardly be bettered. French windows from the upper floor bedroom lead straight to an idyllic terrace, and well-kept and colourful gardens rise behind the house. A stroll to the top of the grounds is rewarded by sweeping views of the surrounding downs; whilst the well-appointed summerhouse in the orchard provides a wonderfully peaceful haven for relaxing after a day’s activities in this exceptional area – perhaps before an excursion to the famous Dove Inn and restaurant just below.
Foley's Cottage has been awarded 4 stars (Gold Award) by Visit England.
Entrance into attractive sitting room with central beam and inglenook fireplace; French windows lead out to a small courtyard with spiral staircase to upper garden level. Dining area at rear of room. Steps up to kitchen with breakfast table and walk-in larder. Passage leading to garden at rear of cottage. Downstairs shower room/wc. Stairs to first floor landing and two bedrooms, one double king size bed and wash basin and one twin. Further stairs to upper level. Master bedroom with French windows leading out to the garden. Bathroom with independent shower over the bath. Separate wc.
Very attractive colourful garden rising behind the cottage with terrace, lawns, orchard and long views. Secluded Summerhouse with fridge and comfortable seating. Garden furniture and BBQ. NB Small children should be supervised while in the garden – changes in level, steep steps and drops.
Thank you for a lovely stay in your super cottage. We loved the retreat it gave us over the festive period. The walks around here are lovely and relaxing (even with three kids in tow!). We visited Bath which was busy but stunning. We were also given a tip from the lady at The Dove Inn about the Festival of Lights at Longleat - we managed to get a couple of tickets and went on 2 January and the whole thing was amazing. We would love to come back some day.The Watts family, January 2017
We have had a brilliant Christmas at Foley's Cottage - Thank you for arranging the beautiful tree and Father Christmas found us here too! Our girls loved it and it was the perfect cosy retreat for our family Christmas. Thank you so much and Happy New Year!Mr & Mrs Williams, December 2016.

Great location and wonderful accommodation!
We stayed here for a short break in October. It was a picturesque location and allowed our family of 6 to spread out, play in the gardens and relax at home for dinner. We could also easily get to Bath and Stonehenge. Special thanks for walking us through the last few meters to the place as we arrived late at night and it was difficult to see the cottage!Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 22 October 2016. 5 of 5 stars.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful cottage with our family!
It was the perfect base for our family of six to visit Bath, Stonehenge and other local sites, so we had a few relaxing nights by the fire and the kids enjoyed exploring the garden. Thank a million for the home away from home!Juli Motika and The Beddows family, October 2016

We have had a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage. There was nothing missing that could have made our stay any better (thank you for the thoughtful goody basket). We visited Cheddar Gorge (beautiful views, well worth the climb), Longleat, The Bratton White Horse (again breath taking views), Poole (lovely finds at the pottery). Thanks again, we have already told our friends!Mr & Mrs Dullage, June 2016.
What a beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the world. We had three full days of walking (70km in all). Wow!! Forest, hills, wildlife and beauty all around. Salisbury is a lovely city and the cathedral a must to visit. Thank you.... we will be back!Mr and Mrs Baldwin, May 2016

Beautiful thatched cottage in perfect location
This was our first family holiday at Foley's Cottage and we had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is charming, with a lovely garden. The rooms are all cosy and comfortable and the kitchen/diner was a natural gathering spot. The location is perfect for exploring Wiltshire and we made day trips to Stonehenge, Longleat, Bath and Avebury. Warminster is close by for shopping (and has a Waitrose). Several nice country pubs are nearby for evening meals. A lovely place to stay - highly recommended!Guest's review on TripAdvisor, 02 January 2016. 5 of 5 stars.
Very relaxing stay in a warm, cosy and welcoming cottage. Would highly recommend Stonehenge, Bath and Longleat - especially if staying with children. So much to see and do in this lovely area - could do with another week. The Evans and Clarke families, October 2015
A wonderful stay in an idyllic cottage. It's a cottage which typifies rural England at its best! Full of character and charm - the master bedroom leading onto the garden is a superb feature. Thank you for a great stay! The Carnie family, July 2015
After watching so many episodes of Escape to the Country it was wonderful to stay in a thatched cottage and experience the beautiful English countryside! We had a fantastic week. We loved Cheddar Gorge, Longleat and going on a canal ride in Bath. We had a lovely dinner at the Prince Leopold Inn and got to feed trout in the river! The garden leading out from the bedroom is beautiful. We have had a lovely week in your beautiful cottage. Thank you.The Lay family, Australia, July 2015.
Thank you so very much for the wonderful welcome basket and for allowing us to stay in your little peace of heaven. The house is delightful and the gardens are spectacular. Our children really enjoyed the summer house. We visited Stonehenge, Salisbury, The Eden Project, Oxford and Bath. We've toured houses and gardens but I think for all of us our favourite thing about the week has been our country walks around Corton and our quiet evenings in the cottage. Such a special place.Mr & Mrs Binns and family, USA. June 2013
We have fallen in love with this cosy cottage, so tastefully decorated with all amenities. Very peaceful, the Summerhouse was so special - it and the gardens are quite magical. Loved the Dove Inn and the food at the Ginger Piggery was delicious. The surrounding towns and villages are out of a fairy tale. We visited Bath, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Camden as well as Salisbury and Stonehenge. Spent our last day here at the cottage. Thank you for our Welcome Hamper! Most of all thank you for sharing this very special home with us. We hope to return soon!Bresnie-Hoffman family, USA. June 2013

What a beautiful and welcoming cottage. The photos do not do it justice! We have had a wonderful week here, log fire burning, games.
