A traditional courtyard development of five cottages, on the southern edge of the Cotswolds.

These Cotswold stone cottages, carefully converted from original farm buildings, are situated on a 370 acre working dairy farm. There is a variety of other animals (cows, peacocks, guinea fowl and turkeys) to interest children, who can be shown round the farm, and an abundance of wildlife. There are walks across the farm which includes bluebell woodland and a stretch of the River Avon. The cottages overlook the beautiful Avon Vale with magnificent, south facing views over rolling grassland, the Wiltshire Avon and beyond to the distant Marlborough Downs.

Maunditts Park Farm is on the edge of the Cotswolds and is only 8 miles from the M4 motorway giving easy access to London, only 1 1/2 hour's drive, Bath, 45 minutes, Oxford, approx. 1 hour and Stratford-upon-Avon, 1 1/2 hours. There are many historical, architectural and archaeological sites and places of outstanding beauty to visit close by. These include Tetbury, Castle Combe, Lacock and Avebury (both N.T.) and Cirencester. The ancient, royal borough of Malmesbury is just 2 miles away, offering good shopping facilities.

Sporting and games facilities

Sporting opportunities on the farm are plentiful. These include coarse and stocked trout fishing on a mile and a half stretch of the Wiltshire Avon, tennis on an excellent hard court (N.B. please bring racquets and balls), a large croquet area, swimming in the heated open air pool during the summer months. There is a sauna and table tennis area. Alternatively spend an evening in the large snooker room with full size table, TV, DVD and plenty of books. Away from the farm clay pigeon shooting, golf and ice skating are all available locally.

Other facilities

The services of a beautician (ideal for hen parties), offering facials, hairdressing, pedicures etc. and a personal trainer (aerobics) are also available (N.B. must be booked in advance).

Maunditts Park Farm Cottages can be booked jointly for larger parties. There are dining facilities for larger groups in Cow Byre.

The largest of the cottages, Cow Byre is the only cottage on two floors and is perfect for large family gatherings or a group of friends. 1st floor: very large, open plan sitting/dining room with log fire and extra (4ft) double sofa bed. Separate, fitted kitchen area. Shower room/wc. Ground floor - 3 bedrooms - 1 double with en suite shower room/wc. 1 twin and 1 with bunk beds and an extra 2' 6" single. Bathroom/wc.

There are also plenty of shared outdoor areas for guests and great walks right on the door step. Enjoy a barbecue by the swimming pool while you soak in the breathtaking views across the farm and countryside beyond.

Really good break in a lovely setting

Very obliging owners who are really friendly. The cottage was great for us, just outside Malmesbury where we had a family wedding. Weather was not great but still got to use the swimming pool which is heated. Even had a couple of games of snooker in the evenings. Would recommend it as a base for exploring the area.

We really enjoyed the farm! It was a very wonderful place to visit for a family of six. What a magnificent view, which includes free-roaming turkeys and peacocks! The barbecues with that stunning view were a great joy - we had several memorable outdoor meals there. Also really good is that kids had lots of different sporty things to do, including ping-pong, tennis and croquet (must bring your own tennis equipment). We loved being able to jump into the pool at all times of the day. Walks galore right out the front door. The hosts were helpful and very warm, and visiting families were able to maintain a sense of privacy. That it is a genuine working dairy farm also makes it interesting and educational. The apartment is very well equipped - although it could certainly be improved with a better quality double bed and mattress. We will recommend it highly to friends and might well return one day.

Fabulous stay at Maunditts ParkFarm!

This really is heaven. A cluster of old farm cottages set in a stunning location with outstanding views and fabulous facilities. It's a working farm so the kids had a field day watching the cows being milked and helping feed the newborn calves. Jane was so welcoming and was at hand daily for any questions or taking the kids round the farm to feed the animals. Yes it's a little run down and a few things missing in the cottages but in the grand scheme of things this place is great value for money. My kids are already pleading for a return trip.

Great base for seeing friends and attractions in Wiltshire

Stayed here several times in all bar one of the cottages at Maunditts Park Farm. Kids love the freedom of being on a working farm and being at one with nature. Good solid self catering accommodation. Hosts very helpful and friendly.

Just a message to say how much everybody enjoyed both staying at the cottages in their lovely setting, enjoying the amenities and having fun in the marquee. Thanks you so much for making the whole arrangements so easy and to your family for their relaxed approach to so many people invading their spaces. The children were very relaxed because they had such a wide range of options to choose for their own entertainment. It was such a joy to spend time with far-flung family in such surroundings. Kindest regards.

A working farm and idyllic countryside

Breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings and beautiful walks from the doorstep made this a great place to spend a summer weekend in the countryside. The children loved meeting some of the animals on the farm, getting close to the action in the milking parlour and feeding newborn lambs. The Cow Byre itself was quite basic, but with loads of space for the children to play and for us adults to relax. I would definitely recommend it to others. And I think it would be a great place to go with a larger group of friends, occupying several of the cottages which are all next door to one another. If you do take toddlers, just beware of the pond, in the courtyard in front of the cottages.

I just wanted to say thank you very much for a lovely stay at Cow Byre and on your farm. We all had a lovely time and it was great to see the countryside, local villages and relax.

Fantastic Farmyard Retreat

Just stayed here with a group of friends and already planning on coming back. Everyone was extremely welcoming & friendly, gorgeous views from all angles, everything including pool & sauna clean & easy to use (make sure to bring some £1 coins to top up the sauna!) you can look around the farm at lots of different animals & are welcomed to watch the milking (if you get up early enough!) got good use out of the tennis court, table tennis & snooker table. All kitchen appliances easy to use and in good order. HIGHLY recommend the Somerford Arms down the road! not really walking distance, took us about 20 minutes to get there but best steak I've ever had and fantastic service! Malmesbury also good for a visit, very pretty, a few charity and gifty shops, go to Amanda's Oxford Street bistro for a great full English!

We all had the most fantastic time. The location was beautiful, the cottages well equipped and homely, the facilities were brilliant (the ping pong table and the pool were much enjoyed by the children particularly!
