Introduction

This stone cottage stands quietly by a bridge on the edge of the small village of Powerstock, just 5 miles from the coast at West Bay. The cottage nestles at the foot of the ancient Eggardon Hill Fort and offers a very comfortable base from which to explore the deep valleys and hills of this unspoilt part of South West Dorset, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Kingcombe Centre (nature reserve) is about 10 minutes' drive and from the side of the garden there is immediate access onto a footpath, taking visitors across the owners' farmland, grazed by their beef and dairy cattle, as part of a beautiful five mile circular walk.

Powerstock itself is an attractive and very ancient village mentioned in The Domesday Book; standing on a mound above the village its imposing church dates from Norman times and there are two pubs, "The Three Horseshoes" and "The Marquess of Lorne" offering good, Dorset produced food, within walking distance of the cottages. A spectacular stretch of the World Heritage, "Jurassic" coastline is within easy driving distance, encompassing Lyme Regis (famous 600' Quay, rock pools & fossils), Charmouth (good sandy beach), West Bay (sea fishing off the pier and beach), and Abbotsbury, (Chesil Beach, swannery & subtropical gardens). The county town of Dorchester is about 10 miles while more locally Bridport provides for more immediate shopping needs.

Completely refurbished by its owner, Bridge Cottage provides very comfortable and welcoming accommodation which is ideal for a couple or a small family.

Accommodation

Bridge Cottage is the left hand of the pair when facing the cottages.

Entrance into small lobby. Sitting room with fireplace containing a wood burner and with dining area. Fitted kitchen. Downstairs bathroom/wc. with independent shower above the bath. Upstairs: 2 bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin room with beds, which can be linked together.
