Carharrack, Cornwall Cottages
Originally simple detached dwelling for a tin miner and his family, Kitts Cottage has been sympathetically modernised to provide a homely and attractive place to relax and unwind, with all the peace and privacy you could want. Hidden away up a bridlepath, the first thing you'll probably notice on arrival are the incredible, far-reaching views towards both the North and South Cornish coastlines. Once inside the cosy interior, you'll love be charmed by the huge stone fireplace and the traditional cast iron range both ensuring the living space stays nice and warm even on the chilliest of days. A contemporary kitchen and a well-lit bedroom, with its feature stone wall, complete the accommodation. Just down the road is the village of Carharrack with its shop and Post Office.
Small entrance lobby.
Living Room/Dining Room with wood burning stove set in a granite fireplace, two sofas, an armchair, TV and small dining table/chairs.
Contemporary Kitchen (via a low doorway) with electric oven, hob, washing machine and microwave.
Bedroom One (via steep open tread stairs lead from sitting room) with double bed (4ft 6), chest of drawers, double height boarded ceiling, exposed stonework at either end and long views on either side. Ample space for visitors' own cot and/or the extra folding bed.
Lawned garden area at the front and a gravelled patio area at the rear, surrounded by a stone wall and small gate to the front. Further garden area with barbecue at one end of the cottage.
Wifi available. Access is via a 250m rough track. Pets welcome (livestock in adjacent fields).
Kitts Cottage is situated in a quiet location just five miles from the sea - very much a Cornish retreat for a couple. The cottage is conveniently placed for visiting the many attractions in this part of Cornwall including the superb sandy/surfing beaches at Porthtowan and Portreath on the north coast, the cliff walks of the Lizard Peninsula. The creeks of the Falmouth Estuary and the Helford River Passage with their sub-tropical gardens (Trebah, Trelissick and The Lost Gardens of Heligan) are also within easy reach making this a great location for enjoying the fresh air and the rugged isolation of this attractive part of Cornwall.
For those looking for some retail therapy, there is plenty of good shopping in the cathedral city of Truro (six miles) where there are also some good restaurants too. Slightly further afield is the famous St Ives with its laid-back artist community and superb beaches. What a great location!
"amazing but heating needs to be addressed! Without spending an additional £80+ we would have been cold as the heaters supplied weren’t sufficient for December!"Rumsey
"We arrived in the dark- excited to see Kitts Cottage in all her glory on the hill. Woke up to an amazing, beautiful cottage with lovely views across the hills. Great walks - excellent for the dog. Although the weather was wet and cold we all enjoyed sitting around the fire, playing games, watching TV, eating and drinking. Bed very comfy, house warm and kitchen modern, clean and big! We would love to come back again and see Kitts Cottage in the summer. Great job Mark and Hayley on cleanliness and homeliness. Very cosy!"The Tighe family
"Just returned from a week at this lovely cottage with our small dog. Beautiful peaceful location with breathtaking views. With its location it is simple to visit most of this area of Cornwall on both sides of the coast. Met lots of friendly locals and found nearly everywhere very welcoming. Great local walks and great to explore hidden trails and paths. Only downside for me was the bridle path leading up to the cottage which is in a poor state and can only be passed at a snail's pace. The other downside for me was that due to visiting at half term most places we went were impossible to get to or stay at. Not anyone's fault except our own for picking this week and I would love to visit again at a different time of year."Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2017-06-03
