Lostwithiel, Cornwall Cottages
If you're looking for an idyllic and peaceful location for your holiday, then Abovetown could be the perfect choice. Nestled in its own beautiful and private, eleven acre coombe, its surrounded on all sides by its own fields and woods offering guests an amazing setting in which to get away from it all.
After an extensive and attractive refurbishment by the owners, the result is fantastic light and space throughout with plenty of room for a large group of guests. Well-chosen decor and furnishings impart a calm and homely feel, so much so that you'll find yourself wanting to unwind as soon as you set your foot in the door. Only ten minutes' drive from Lostwithiel, the house is perfectly positioned for visitors to enjoy this attractive and fascinating part of South Cornwall. For walkers there are quiet footpaths, or the South West Coastal Path which passes though ancient towns and villages such as Polruan, Looe and Polperro (seven and a half miles) and Fowey (11 miles). Numerous sandy beaches are within easy reach on the south coast whilst to the north, Bodmin Moor is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is full of historical sites as well as being a magnificient location for outdoor activities.
The whole region is full of historic and literary associations. Lostwithiel was once the county capital and the house from which Daphne Du Maurier wrote her novels and short stories is just the other side of the estuary. The National Trust property of Llanhydrock, the Eden Project near St. Austell and many fine gardens, such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, make interesting day excursions.

"Words alone are not enough to express the magnificence that is Abovetown. Everything was just perfect - the beautiful, well-equipped house and garden, as well as the ideal location from which to explore the wonders of Cornwall. The fresh flowers and delicious goodies that awaited us upon our arrival made for an extra special and unexpected treat. Our week was much too short. We hope to get a chance to visit again sometime."Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2015-10-26
