An absolute must during any stay a visit to St Michael's Mount, home to the St Aubyn family since 1650 and now managed by the National Trust. There are only two ways to reach the island - either by boat or, for the more intrepid, via a stone causeway at low tide. Once there you can explore the medieval church and castle surrounded by subtropical gardens below and find yourself transported away by its myths and legends.
The south west corner of Cornwall is well known for its dramatic coastline with a huge number of places to discover. Lands End, Cape Cornwall and Sennen Cove are all within easy reach and there are superb coastal walks and numerous ancient houses and gardens to enjoy.
A short drive from Marazion, Penzance provides a varied selection of shops, supermarkets and seafood restaurants as well as a sea link to the Isles of Scilly.
"The booking of Greeb Rocks Cottage was exceptional through Hideaways, who were extremely helpful in providing me with extra photos of the stairs due to my mobility problem. The cottage was so comfortable and cozy, the sun room and terrace with the amazing views of the sea and St Michael's Mount being the highlights. A perfect spot to watch the many birds in the garden and have a glass of wine in the evening. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with everything you would possibly need in the kitchen to cook a meal. A lovely cream tea and cider were provided on our arrival too, which was much appreciated. We found Marazion itself a really lovely place for a quiet holiday, with plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The Marazion marshes are worth a visit for bird watchers too. There is a regular bus service to Penzance and Nippy taxis, so we were able to get about without a car."Guests' review on TripAdvisor 2017-05-15
"Booked Greeb Rocks as a late booking over New Year 2016/17 for myself, my partner and our small dog. We couldn't have been happier, from the moment we arrived in Marazion driving along the coast and past the awe inspiring St Michael's Mount, to the moment we opened the cottage door into a warm welcoming kitchen with exceptional cider and homemade mince pies waiting on the table and the decorated Xmas tree in the snug lounge. The cottage was perfectly clean and comfortable and the view out on to the mount is just breathtaking. We didn't have the time to enjoy the garden but it looks wonderful as it leads down to the sea with nothing between the cottage and it. Whilst in Marazion we are at Ben's Cornish Kitchen which is as good as everyone told us it would be. (We'd booked in advance which is a must if you hope to find a table) We found Marazion to be a great base to discover the deep south west but a limited as a destination itself unless you are planning to walk the coastal path or need seclusion. Greeb Rocks Cottage though is perfect, warm cost and yards from the beach. We can't wait to return."Guests' review on TripAdvisor 2017-01-02
