The barn makes an ideal holiday retreat for a family - the owners keep sheep and chickens and the surrounding area is marvelous for walking or cycling. Join the Dorset 'Trailway' which runs from Shillingstone to Sturminster, explore Hambledon Hill Fort (Iron Age ditches and fortifications), Hod Hill and Bulbarrrow (900ft) or join the network of pathways leading to the village, where you'll find an exceptionally wide range of facilities - post office, general stores, weekly fish & chip van, two pubs, health and beauty salon. Just up the track, visit the organic farm shop and art gallery run by the owner of Giddy Acre Barn, with regular exhibitions by major contemporary artists. For other local shopping and sightseeing, the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury and Georgian Blandford Forum are both within 20 minutes' drive.
