Hewood, Dorset Cottages
With its unusual and unique history, Hill Cottage sits in a wonderful position overlooking the delightful hamlet of Hewood on the borders of Dorset and Somerset. Built of cob, a natural building material, this detached property has connections with the renowned landscape painter Lucien Pissarro who lived here until his death in 1944.
The cottage is inviting and welcoming with its bright, neutrally decorated rooms and you'll love the cosiness that the open fire and wood burning stove bring during the cooler months. In the summer you'll be eager to sit out and relax in the stylish garden furniture at the top of the terraced gardens with the far reaching views stretching away into the distance.

You'll find plenty of attractions in both Somerset and Dorset to keep you busy. Forde Abbey and Cricket St Thomas (wildlife park) are very close by, with historic houses such as Montacute and Barrington Court (National Trust) not much further.
The area is rich in ancient sites like Maiden Castle and Eggardon Hill, and wonderful walks abound. Lyme Regis and Charmouth are about a 20 minute drive, giving access to the famous Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, with superb beaches and cliff paths.
For a day out the cathedral city of Exeter, the county town of Dorset, Dorchester, and Somerset's lively county town, Taunton, are all within an hour's drive.
