Originally serving as the Granary for the nearby Friary, this is a house steeped in history with plenty of original features such as the impressive ancient timber structure and huge cruck beams. The living spaces are stylishly furnished and decorated in a subtle, 'Farrow and Ball' palette of colours, inviting guests to feel at home.
All modern conveniences have been thoughtfully provided, including a state-of-the-art, 'Neptune' kitchen with dining area, while the spacious living room with inglenook and a superb, double-height, master bedroom with its enormous stone fireplace are wonderful places to retreat to after a day out. A real bonus is fantastic outbuilding which provides a practical and comfortable additional living/TV room/kids' den with single garage and bike storage below. Guests return again and again they love it so much!

Entrance up steps into hallway
Light, spacious, open-plan Kitchen with modern appliances, island unit and Dining Area with oak table and chairs. French windows opening out onto the garden. Connecting door to Larder/Storage Room.
Living Room with sofa, three armchairs, wood burning stove in an inglenook fireplace and large flat screen TV (Sky) with integral HiFi system. Ipod dock.
Wet Room/WC with underfloor heating.
Additional WC and Utility Room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

First Floor
Bedroom One (Master Bedroom) with zip and link beds offering a choice of super king size bed (6ft) or twin beds and a wardrobe plus a sitting area with armchairs and fireplace with wood burning stove.
Bedroom Two with king size bed (5ft) and wardrobe.
Bedroom Three with king size bed (5ft).
Bedroom Four with twin beds (NB one bed is at a higher level than the other).
Family Bathroom/WC with wall mounted shower above the bath.

Outside
There is an Outbuilding just across the garden with additional Living/TV Room, separate WC and double doors leading out onto a balcony with views over the surrounding countryside. Single garage below accessed from the driveway. South-facing garden, fenced and gated, having an upper level with paved area and barbecue with a grassed area below. A vegetable patch/soft fruit and herb garden is situated beyond the garage.

Children welcome. Cot, highchair and stairgate provided. One, well-behaved dog welcome. Please be aware that a £200 refundable damages deposit is required. No smoking.  

Map & Local Information

This property is in a great location for individuals and families.  The surrounding area has something for everyone. Keen walkers and cyclists will find footpaths and suitable cycle routes on the doorstep, while for those preferring watersports, Weymouth, with its long sandy beach and marina incorporating the Olympic sailing centre, is just three miles away (various activities including sailing and water ski-ing courses can be booked at the sailing centre).  

A unique stretch of Dorset's Jurassic coastline is within easy driving distance - Durdle Door, Sandbanks, Studland Bay and Poole Harbour to the east and the Chesil Beach, the Fleet Lagoon and Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub-tropical Gardens to the west. The county town of Dorchester (Dinosaur Museum and multiplex cinema) is just three miles.

Upwey itself is a charming village nestling beneath South Dorset chalk downland with mainline station to London (Waterloo), several pubs, a 13th century church, art gallery and the well-known Wishing Well tea rooms and water garden.  Monkey world is nearby and worth a visit, and you may also like to visit the famous Tank Museum,

"Cobblestone House nestles in a tranquil valley where the only night-time sounds are the hoots of the tawny owls, yet it is just a few miles from the supermarkets and car parks on the outskirts of Weymouth with regular buses to the beautiful sea front. The house is very well equipped to a very high standard and has ideal accommodation for our 3 generation family. 2017 will be our third visit to Cobblestone House and we all love it! With our young grandchildren we love the safe, sandy beaches at Weymouth, walking on the shingle at Chesil Bank on Portland Bill, eating at the Crab Snack and visiting Monkey World. We are all looking forward to returning to this fabulous property this summer."
