Russet is a semi-detached property lying on the edge of the charming village of Martin, the most westerly parish in Hampshire. The village is situated between Salisbury and Blandford Forum. The surrounding area offers some stunning countryside in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with excellent opportunities for walking, riding and cycling. The 'no through' lane on which the cottage stands leads directly up to Martin Down, a large area of chalk downland, designated a National Nature Reserve. The country road leading south out of the village, will take you to the small country town of Fordingbridge on the banks of the River Avon and beyond that to the New Forest National Park boundary, about 15 minutes' drive from Martin.
Further afield but within easy driving distance for a day's outing are the beaches of the South Hampshire and Dorset coastline and a plethora of attractions – Stonehenge, Stourhead Gardens, Longleat Safari Park, the World Heritage city of Bath and the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, the latter being only about 20 minutes' drive. Martin itself lies in a valley, the main street lined with period houses and picturesque thatched cottages. There is a community village shop with restricted opening hours and a church of Norman origins.
"Peaceful & perfect - all well equipped and very warm and comfortable. Hiring all three was perfect for our New Year; the games were a bonus. Thank you."Mrs Moore
"This was a fab cottage in a quiet village only 20 minutes from the centre of Salisbury. We used it as a base to visit a variety of places and had a brilliant two weeks. The cottage was lovely and clean and the facilities were great. Our grown daughters came to stay for a few days and we all had plenty of room. The outdoor garden was great for our dog and the middle room with the pool table gave us even more extra space and provided some great entertainment. The homemade cake on arrival was gorgeous and a lovely touch. Went to some fab country pubs for some lovely meals. Visited the Dorset coast several times which is lovely. Will return again."Guests' review on TripAdvisor 2017-09-12

We have been able to see our daughter who lives in Salisbury every day and were joined by our younger daughter for a few days! It was a fab. base for many days out - New Forest, the coast etc. Used the Dorset book a lot. Thank you."Mr & Mrs Davis 2017-08-12
