About a ten minute drive away is the boundary of the New Forest, one of England's oldest remaining forests. Now officially a National Park it offers miles of foot, bridle and cycle paths for those searching for outdoor activities and there is also plenty of wildlife to spot, not least the famous wild ponies which roam freely, all within this unique landscape. Visitor attractions such as Beaulieu (National Motor Museum), Buckler's Hard (where Nelson's favourite ship was built) and Exbury Gardens (world famous Rhododendrons & Azaleas) are also located within the New Forest.
Also within easy driving distance are the historic cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, Wilton House, Longleat Safari Park and the beaches, yachting marinas and resorts of the South Hampshire and Dorset coastline.
For a day out slightly further afield The World Heritage city of Bath has so much to offer, with it's Roman Baths a particular attraction.
Fordingbridge, the nearest town at around four miles away, has a range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants while Rockbourne itself boasts its own Roman Villa, trout fishery and a very popular thatched pub, The Rose and Thistle, which is just a few minutes' walk from Manor Farm.
"I just wanted to send a note to say what a wonderful time we all had at Stable Cottage this weekend. The setting was perfect, pub, walking and tennis were great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves"Mrs Hargreaves 2017-10-02
"We absolutely loved our stay at Stable Cottage. The location for us was perfect to explore The New Forest. The cottage was very clean and well presented, the beds were extremely comfortable. The only down point was the WiFi signal was a little poor for our teenagers, however it made them put down there phones for a while....... We used the bar-b-que a lot and ate outside which was lovely and the boys could get a decent WiFi signal. We had no problems and would definitely stay again."Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2016-01-17
"We stayed in Stable Cottage in September 2015 to celebrate a special family occasion. As there were 10 of us we also rented the adjoining cottage – The Tallet. Both premises were clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Being situated on a working farm it is a very peaceful location and has plenty of scope for walking."Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2016-01-13
