Bromyard, Herefordshire & Shropshire Cottages
Set in the grounds of the owner's farm, Elephant Cottage is an outstanding cottage. Rife with a quirky history, Elephant Cottage's was once owned by a Birmingham circus family who relocated from the city to retire with their animals and it was here that a baby elephant was housed in this old barn building until it moved away. Hence the name! The current owners, once they bought the farm, set about improving everything. Today we have this beautiful old barn, which has been beautifully modernised, comfortable, spotlessly clean and incredibly charming. As you will see all the old beams and trusses remain, there is even a section of the original wattle and daub inside. These period features have been enhanced, creating a very special cottage retreat.
Elephant Cottage is light and airy inside due to the high beam ceilings and multiple windows that look out over the beautiful view of the surrounding farm lands. Fishing is also possible around 200 metres away in a small lake stocked with brown trout and carp.
Outside is a large, private garden area - all of which overlooks classic English countryside with walks in all directions to help you relax and unwind. This is a wonderful spot, we loved it and the overall effect is of an enchanting cottage brimming over with character in a great part of the country.

Elephant Cottage (so called because, bizarrely, an elephant was once housed in it!) has been converted from a former farm building to a quite exceptional standard. Set close beside an active dairy farm with pedigree herd and in attractive rolling countryside, this timber framed Herefordshire cottage is very well placed for exploring the surrounding area with its network of footpaths and wide range of places of interest. These include the cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester, and the market towns of Ledbury, Ludlow and Leominster, whilst the Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are all less than an hour away. The owner can also offer woodland walks on his farm and coarse fishing (three carp ponds - see additional pictures) by arrangement. The local town of Bromyard (about 5 minutes drive) offers a good range of facilities, as well as acting as host to an increasing range of festivals.
"The cottage was very comfortable, immaculately clean and very well equipped and very well placed for all local attractions"Burnhope 2018-05-29
"Booked Elephant Cottage as a surprise break for my husband's 50th birthday - we weren't disappointed at all! Margaret and Peter have thought of everything. It has been a very relaxing and peaceful time and we have enjoyed every moment. The weather has not been great, but it has not stopped us getting out and exploring the area. We would most definitely love to come back again."A and M 2018-04-29
"The cottage was one of the best kitted out we have ever stayed in - quality. The garden was wonderfully secure and we loved watching our greyhound."Julie, Phil and Ben (the Greyhound) 2017-10-07
