Fonthill Gifford, Wiltshire Cottages
Fisherman's Lodge occupies a totally idyllic setting at the end of a track, overlooking Fonthill Lake. The surrounding land, which forms part of the Fonthill Estate, offers superb walking, either along the perimeter of the lake just below or across fields to the nearby village of Tisbury.
Attractive and well-designed in equal measure this is a glorious rural retreat for couple or small family. Once inside, you'll find the lodge has been planned to perfection and provides spacious accommodation in a contemporary style which we found very appealing. Four sets of double doors at the front open out onto a large, paved terrace flooding the open-plan living area with natural light.
A great choice for a relaxing and tranquil stay.

Fisherman's Lodge nestles perfectly within 9,000 acres of stunning countryside in the heart of Wiltshire. Broadly an equal distance from Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Warminster this beautiful corner of Wiltshire is best described as one of the most attractive parts of the region.
Close to the border with Dorset, it offers outstanding walks, some of which run from your front door straight into glorious surroundings. There plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities including good cycle routes, riding stables, excellent game and coarse fishing plus several challenging golf courses.
For local shopping, Fisherman's Lodge is just a few minutes' drive from the attractive villages of Hindon and Tisbury. For wining and dining there is an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants in the area, the nearest being The Beckford Arms, a highly regarded 'country house' inn, just a short stroll back up the track from the lodge.
There are also numerous attractions and places of interest within an hour's driving distance such as the historic cities of Salisbury and Bath, ancient sites and monuments including Stonehenge, Avebury and Wardour Castle and fine stately homes and gardens among which are Stourhead (National Trust), Longleat and Wilton House. The New Forest National Park and Dorset's Jurassic coast are also a must for a day's excursion.
"This cottage is in a really quiet, secluded corner - just as the photos show it. It is down a farm track, off a small road, with no passing traffic at all. You can walk in the woods & beside the lake. The cottage has real character. The area is lovely with so much to see - we travelled to various places including Stonehenge / Avebury / Bath / Salisbury / Stourhead / Shaftesbury. The only minor point to note in the cottage - the twin bedroom has an open staircase off the main room downstairs, with no door, meaning that if you have children in that room you have to consider the noise level."Guest's review on Tripadvisor 2016-06-06
