Seend, Wiltshire Cottages
As you might guess from the name, The Lock Keeper's Cottage once housed the keeper whose job it was to operate the lock right outside the door. You may be just as happy with the grandstand view of the narrowboats pottering by which this cottage gives you. Either way if you're looking for a short break, or longer, right by the water's edge, then this cottage should be top of your list.
Renovated to a good standard, the cottage now offers cosy accommodation with high ceilings and period features such as its lovely stone fireplace.
Equally suited to a summer holiday or a winter break, you will not be disappointed with the quality and comfort you can experience in this delightful cottage.

As the canal is right outside your front door, you may wish to take the opportunity to explore it. If so, then narrow boat trips can be arranged at Bradford-on-Avon (10 miles away) or you can just follow the towpath with its lovely scenery to a conveniently placed pub, The Barge Inn, just a mile away.
There is plenty to see and do in the area so you'll be spoilt for choice for a day out. Historic sights and attractions include Longleat House and Safari Park, Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, Bowood House (including golf) and Lacock Abbey are all within easy reach by car, while the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, a World Heritage site, is only 20 miles away.
Also worth a closer look are Bradford-on-Avon and Marlborough, well known for their antique shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the cathedral city of Salisbury, all less than an hour's drive away.
"Many thanks for a cosy cottage in a not very good weather week."Mr & Mrs Sullivan 2017-06-01
"We stayed at the Lock Keeper's Cottage for a week, we were two adults and two teenagers. The cottage is to a very high standard, well equipped and very clean. More importantly it has bags of character and is very comfortable. I liked the dining area where we had family meals looking out on the countryside. There are two sitting areas, ideal when you need you own space. We did not find the road an issue, it is not particularly busy and there is room to stand and see both ways making crossing over to the car very safe. The cottage is perfectly located with two pubs and a village store just a small walk away up the canal paths. There is a lovely log burning stove, although with under floor heating it was used for its character rather than warmth."Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2015-10-31
"My family and I stayed here earlier this year and we were very pleasantly supplied with the cottage. We were a party of four adults and we had plenty of space. The building itself is lovely and very well equipped with the canal boats drifting by outside the windows. Places to eat are just along the tow path and the locals were lovely. Well worth a visit!"Guest's review on TripAdvisor 2014-06-03
