Bishopstone, Wiltshire Cottages
Bridge Studio is an imaginatively converted barn within the garden of a larger house. The property has been thoughtfully designed, with well lit, uncluttered living spaces and good use of natural materials, making this a very desirable base from which to explore this beautiful area.
Entrance hallway with access to a downstairs shower room/wc.
Large, very attractive, galleried living room comprising a sitting area with woodburning stove and French windows opening out onto a patio, a dining area and a bespoke fitted kitchen at the far end of the room.
Large double bedroom with 4'6" bed and TV.
Bathroom with bath, basin and wc.
Gallery above the living area with single day bed for an additional guest (NB not suitable for a small child).
Brick-paved terrace with furniture and barbecue and grassed garden area beyond.
Sorry no pets. Pub within a 5 minute stroll. No smoking. Wonderful walks across chalk downland from front door.
Bridge Studio lies in the pretty village of Bishopstone, half way along the unspoilt Chalke Valley, which follows the River Ebble on its meandering journey to the cathedral city of Salisbury, 6 miles away. The surrounding scenery, which forms part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is particularly renowned and there are wonderful walks from the cottage door by the river and up on the chalk downland and along the old Ox Drove above the village. For keen cyclists the Wiltshire Cycleway, which runs along the valley, is conveniently close.
Further afield but still within an hour's driving distance of Bishopstone are a whole host of visitor attractions – Wilton House, Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead and the World Heritage city of Bath. The New Forest National Park boundary is only about 20 minutes away and Dorset's “Jurassic” coast is a must for a day's excursion. Closer to home there is a string of pretty villages to explore between Salisbury and the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury, with many ancient cottages, some fine houses, historic churches and plenty of excellent country pubs.
"I had a lovely few days painting and walking in this beautiful place. The Studio became a real one! Perfect!"Vivian French 2017-08-18
"This is the first opportunity we have had since returning home from our holiday of writing to you to thank you so much for a wonderful cottage which was the foundation of our holiday and for making us welcome on our arrival. The darkness at night was quite a shock from our usual surroundings, as were the early morning bird calls: 4am – up with the birds and 11pm watching the bats in the garden – what an experience! We can’t remember our days being quite as long since our children grew up. It has certainly made us think about where we live and how much we would like to move out of town. We had a great time exploring Dorset and most certainly plan to spend more time there in the future – and hopefully using Bridge Studio as our base."Mr & Mrs Littlehales 2017-05-01
"Second stay here and just as amazing as the first, lovely break - time to relax and rewind! Thank you once again."Bobby & Bernie 2017-05-01
