Perched on the edge of the New Forest, Romsey is a small market town in Hampshire. At its heart is the Abbey first founded in the 10th century by the Anglo-Saxon King, Edward the Elder, but later rebuilt in Norman times. The country estate of Broadlands stands on the edge of the town – previous residents include Lord Palmerston and Earl Mountbatten. A number of shows, festivals and carnivals take place throughout the year bringing plenty of visitors to the town. You’ll find a good choice of shops (independent and high street names) pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes.
