“Even though the property is located quite close to the owners home, the location is lovely, especially for walks.”
On the evening of arrival we decided to go out for dinner, there was only enough hot water for one modest shower, second shower was cold for my wife, we had to leave the emmersion heater running there on.
Received a phone call the night prior to departure asking us to vacate by 9am, when the listing clearly states 10am, the reason given was 'due to Covid', she said it was on the listing and that Sykes were aware, it wasn't, still isn't and I assume they aren't.
When we politely said no, explaining we had planned to leave by 9.30' (very reasonable), the owner asked if she could come in and collect towels and sheets etc before that!, again we had to politely decline! a little privacy as your showering, packing etc is fair normal!?
This felt intrusive and totally unnecessary, surely the listed 6 hours is enough time to air and clean!? We felt rushed at time of departure because of this.
Furniture and random items are very random and untidy looking. Mattress desperately needs replacing, sofa needs work or cleaning, the nasty looking cover hiding stained seats wasn't welcoming. Carpet has seen much better days. Slightly dirty cups and other items, had to clean them our selves, which led us to think we should clean all utensils we might use (especially during these times), this led us to basically sanitise the property ourselves as we weren't sure if other items and surfaces had received a high standard of cleaning. A comically old and worn looking kettle.
For the price of £270 a night, we expected better to be honest, it would have gone unmentioned if not for the unreasonable phone call the night before departure.
Frankly the listed photos show the property at its best, probably many years ago.
Shame because the setting is lovely.
