“The cottage has lots of extras, including a full Sky package, but the TV is only 32”, really small.”

The bed linen and towels were fresh and clean. The sofas were dirty, the covers hadn’t been washed for some time. The twin bedroom had an odor - damp I think. The storage heaters were poor, the property was either too hot or too cold, with no way to adjust them properly. The shower room wall was dirty - running a damp cloth over it would have helped. Cobwebs everywhere. Shelves of books, dvd’s, magazines and ornaments all dusty and completely unnecessary. The crockery and cutlery in ...

Cobwebs everywhere. Shelves of books, dvd’s, magazines and ornaments all dusty and completely unnecessary. The crockery and cutlery in the kitchen were in the open (no drawers/cupboards). The kitchen work surface was wooden and had seen better days. Overall the cottage was worn out and needed a complete refurbishment. Tiny fridge not fit for purpose, the outdoor fridge in the shed didn’t work and ruined some of our food. The location was good with a nice pub down the road and lots to do in the area, the owners who live on the site were very friendly and helpful.

Very comfortable with generous equipment. The owners live next door and get the welcome just right. Friendly but not intrusive. This was our second stay and hopefully not our last. That says it all.

“The barn is warm and very comfortable,fully equipped with all appliances and no detail spared!”

Spacious kitchen and dining area and a cosy living room lead to two stylish bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms. The outdoor space is perfect for a family with outdoor furniture on a raised patio and small grassed areas. The owners obviously care about their guests and do everything possible to ensure you have a great holiday.

“Was a lovely area to stay, cottage had everything you needed.”

The pubs nearby are very expensive, The bedding was very clean and comfortable, TV very small. However the place was very dusty with lots of cobwebs around. The cottage was very cluttered with ornaments, picture, plastic plants magazines, (even in the toilet) lots of books, DVD, which all needed dusting. Plates and cups are also out on display, so need washing before you could use them. Very friendly host who are on standby if you need anything.

“Great holiday at Shafts barn.”

The hosts, who live on site, are very friendly and helpful, and there were a number of toys available for our kids to play with which they (and we!) enjoyed having to play with. The cottage is really well appointed, and the beds are very comfortable. Plenty of wood for the log fire, and the local pub was a gem as well. Would thoroughly recommend.

“We had a very good post-shielding holiday at Shaft's Barn - a real gem tucked away in the beautiful village of West Meon.”

We had a very warm welcome from Phil and were pleasantly surprise how spacious the Barn was - a real Tardis of a building which looked so small and quaint from outside. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedrooms had plenty of storage space and the walk-in shower room a boon for my aged knees! Outside the private rear garden was a suntrap and the BBQ plus chairs/table/parasol were put to good use. West Meon itself is a fascinating village and is convenient for trips to Winchester, Chichester and Portsmouth so we enjoyed a mixed of medieval cathedrals, Roman mosaics, very walkable cities and some maritime history plus an afternoon at Butser Ancient Farm to round out our journey through British history!

“The location was brilliant.”

Very short walk to pub and community run shop and cafe. Bus service was adequate for our needs into Petersfield and Winchester. Owners were welcoming and very helpful. Cottage was warm, cosy and very well equipped. As an older couple, without a car, we had no trouble enjoying our week in this lovely Hampshire village.

“I booked this cottage as a surprise birthday gathering for my husband and in laws.”

We had an absolutely lovey time. Jill was very welcoming. Leaving me birthday decorations, hand picked apples and a bottle of wine. The bed was so comfortable. So comfortable I’ve organises for the same mattress topper to be ordered in my own home. The fireplace was cosy which was needed for the Saturday as it did rain. Highly recommended. “We stayed over the Christmas period, and the barn proved pivotal to visiting family and friends coming from Southampton, Tavistock and Bath.”

The hosts bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we needed, and it all felt extremely luxurious. We even had sparkling wine and chocolates as a welcome present. West Meon is a quaint village with a river running through it, sheep and woodland, a lovely old pub and friendly local shopkeepers. We went to Winchester for the fun, tasteful Christmas market and attended the Christmas Eve Eucharist service, which was outstanding. Time in the barn was spent round the wood-burning stove, with a gorgeous Christmas tree and lights and candles. Being miles from busy roads, it was so quiet, and the sky was filled with stars. Very romantic! There was plenty of space for all the special Christmas food I had to prepare, many films to watch and games galore. We all had a truly wonderful time.

“My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the barn.”

Every little detail had been thought of and the decor was simply stunning. The location was perfect for what we wanted which was to cycle and walk around beautiful countryside and relax in cosy pubs by the fire. The log burner in the barn is a lovely touch and we used it a lot. Jill and Phil kindly provided logs for us and were so helpful in suggesting things for us to do. They even offered us a lift into Winchester as we were without a car (we didn't find this a problem at all as everything is easily accessible) which was so kind of them! The Thomas Lord pub, a five minute walk from the barn is a must visit - best roast we've had in a long time! My partner being a keen cricketer loved all the cricket heritage in the village of West Meon. Our stay really was a little slice of heaven and we will definitely be back as soon as we can. It's the perfect escape from the madness of London and we highly recommend a visit.

“Shafts Barn is a delightful, well equipped, comfortable cottage.”

Both bedrooms are ensuite and the cottage has everything you need for a short break or a couple of weeks. I was lucky with the weather and it was great to sit in the lovely garden with apples falling around me. West Meon has a couple of shops, a small cafe and a really friendly village feel. Petersfield is a few miles away and the coast is only half an hours drive.The owners, who live on site, are very friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting again next year.

“Upon our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Phil and Jill who showed us round the accommodation and, throughout our stay, could not have been more helpful and charming.”

We found Shafts Barn to be beautifully clean - not something one can always take for granted. The barn has recently been converted for its present purpose and is superbly and tastefully equipped with, for example, complete matching sets of cutlery and saucepans, a wood burning stove and Sky TV. Every little detail had apparently been thought of. A true home from home, indeed. We would heartily recommend Shafts Barn and hope very much to return there in the future.

“We had a wonderful holiday here, the barn was immaculately renovated, with lots of cosy details.”

The owners Phil and Jill were very helpful and keen to sort out anything we needed for our stay, they even took us to collect fresh eggs from the chickens nearby! Our son (aged 22 months) enjoyed the range of toys available, and there is sky TV too. The beds were really comfy and all the linen smelled really nice which was conducive to a good nights sleep.The local shop was run by the community and sold a surprisingly eclectic selection of food, and the local gastro-pub was excellent too, both only a 5 minute walk from the barn. We found lots to do over the week, including visits to the forest, Marwell Zoo and Manor Farm.

“My husband, two kids (girl aged 8 and boy aged 3.”

5) and I just spent a wonderful 10 days at Shafts Barn. We are from Singapore and despite having been to London multiple times, we have never driven out of the city into the English countryside. And what a lovely introduction we have been given by Phil, JIll and their pretty barn! The barn is very well equipped with all the peripherals that you'd need for a restful stay. The kitchen was well used and we cooked a simple dinner every night. Kids had DVDs, cable TV, games and books to keep them occupied. And I loved the range of magazines and the Mary Berry cookbook! All the taps were fitted with a filter and that gave us drinking water from the tap. The cottage was sufficiently warm and the kids were able to have a soak in the bath tub every day despite it being winter. The beds were clean and very comfortable. The hosts: very kind and friendly couple who were ready to give a spot of advice or guidance whenever we asked. Prior to arrival, Jill sent me a whole host of links to places our family may want to visit. She also helped check out car rental options. On the day of arrival, we had a spot of trouble finding the barn as the GPS wouldn't let us input the appropriate postal code but Phil led us back on the right route through verbal instructions on the mobile phone! Without a doubt, Shafts Barn at West Meon ranks high for us in the accommodations we have booked. It is relatively inexpensive (compared to the apartments we stayed at in Bath and London). Most importantly, we all had a great time bonding as a family. The kids were never bored and the adults were well rested. Thank you Jill and Phil! We hope to visit again! “My wife and I go on holiday with my reasonably fit 75 year old Mum every year and generally stay in high end self catering places, so the arrangement of a double and a twin room suited us well.”

We were attracted to Shafts Barn because of the access to The South Downs, New Forest for simple walks, Isle of Wight for a day trip and Winchester if the weather was unkind. I think even London is possible had we needed it. However, the Barn itself was beautifully presented, comfortable, very well equipped and felt not just new, but done to a high quality. There is an extra fridge and freezer room in an outbuilding should you need and also a patio complete with furniture, fire pit and barbecue where we sat snugly late into the evening listening to the Tawny Owls calling in the adjacent wood. Just lovely. The owners, Phil and Jill, were great with communication before we got there, allowed us to deliver on line shopping to arrive before we did (half a day saved) and were that unusual balance of attentive without being obtrusive. The location is quiet, but there are amenities around in the village: of note are a good gastro pub (book on a weekend) and a lovely cafe behind the village shop (you MUST try the homemade lemon polenta cake). All in all, simply the best self catering accommodation we have yet found. I can't recommend it enough.

“From the start, Jill and Phil couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful.”

They clearly cared very much that we made the most of our stay, bringing corn so our children could feed the chickens, and marshmallows to toast over the fire bowl. They even let us use the property well after the normal checkout, since there wasn't another booking immediately, and this really helped to turn the last day from being a rush to being an extra day of holiday. The location is great, with a fantastic butcher, local shop and pub (the Thomas Lord, excellent food, beer, service, entertainment, but busy so book ahead) all within 2 minutes saunter. And even with all that, it's such a peaceful village. There are good walks on the doorstep, and the countryside is lovely. The cottage itself, while looking small on the outside, is newly renovated and well laid out. There are two en-suite bathrooms (one with fantastic walk-in shower), comfortable beds, a stylish living room, and a country kitchen, complete with antique butcher's block. There is a secluded patio at the back, and a generous driveway/turning space at the front. All in all, a blissful weekend away.

“We booked this trip as a last minute Easter break to get away as a family.”

We were welcomed by Phil and Jill who were perfect hosts. We arrived to a stunning property which exceeded our expectations, there is everything there that you need and could possibly want. Everything is fitted out to the highest quality and the barn is set in a peaceful and beautiful location. The log burner was just what we wanted so we indulged in toasted marshmallows as a treat! There is a lovely local pub and some pretty walks close by. We took our girls to peppa pig world which was only 20 minutes away! An amazing barn which we will return to in the future.

“We spent New Year in this little cottage situated in the picture perfect village of West Meon.”

The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were heavenly. My children (2, 6 and 8 years old) were thrilled to find an abundance of age appropriate toys and games behind the sofa all in perfect condition (and frankly more fun than ours at home). There was a go-cart in the shed and a lovely big lawn to play on. We roasted marshmallows in the fire each night. The village could not be more picturesque, with its local store, butcher and fabulous local pub, and this surrounded by lovely country side where we enjoyed a 5k walk with the children. A perfect get-away - we will definitely come back to this heavenly little cottage.

“This beautifully decorated barn conversion was the perfect retreat for the Easter weekend away with friends.”

It was well-equipped, with lots of added extras and special touches. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Located in a peaceful village with footpaths at your doorstep and the cozy Thomas Lord pub which makes amazingly delicious food- what more could you ask for! “We live in Australia and this was our first trip back to the UK for Xmas in nearly 10 years.”

We wanted it to be extra Christmassy for our kids who had never experienced a cold Xmas and Phil and Jill had gone to such an effort to really make the cottage feel like a home and not just a holiday rental. The cottage is gorgeous, very cosy with beautiful decor and ideal for a young family like ours. We also really enjoyed the location - a really picturesque part of England with lots of easy walks close by. We would definitely recommend it.

“Shafts Barn was perfect for us and made our bank holiday foray into a real pleasure.”

The Barn itself is very well equipped with thoughtful touches, comfortable beds and an excellent shower. The well equipped kitchen worked well, the lounge area comfortable and the outside space lush and well kept. The whole Barn was very clean, too - and the owners were more than happy to accommodate our request for non-feather pillows. West Meon is also the perfect base - a lovely village in its own right, it was ideally located for Portsmouth (first visit - great place!) and a day trip to the Isle of Wight from a tranquil and secluded country base. Perfect.

“Had a wonderful long weekend break at Shafts Barn.”

The cottage is immaculate and secluded and beautifully presented. Even more so than the pictures suggest. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and peaceful. It has been very thoughtfully put together to make a stay relaxing and enjoyable, including a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival! Philip and Jill are lovely hosts and were helpful and friendly, while not being at all intrusive. The village is beautiful, with a great pub and an amazing butchers both within a short walking distance. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can!

“A very homely and well equipped property with some lovely touches, and extremely kind and attentive (though discreet) owners.”

The barn is set in a really nice village amidst some stunning countryside.There's a village shop within walking distance - it has some very friendly staff. There are excellent road links to Winchester, the New Forest and West Sussex. The George pub in the neighbouring village of East Meon provided a very good meal. We'd thoroughly recommend the barn with the slight proviso that the dining area might be a bit tight for four large adults - but there again - it all depends how friendly you are with each other.

“We had a great family holiday exploring Hampshire.”

Shafts Barn was a perfect base, our hosts obviously know how to relax their guests and provide enough of those little extras which make a big difference. These included a friendly greeting at 9 pm on arrival, a bottle of Villa Maria, a laid fire ready to be lit, toys for the children and all the mod cons. Our only criticism would be that the beautiful village pub doesn't have a children's menu, the 7 Stars not far away has a great one but that involved driving a few miles and therefore not drinking! Thanks for a lovely break, our first holiday as a family of four and one to remember.

“We wanted a relaxing holiday and this turned out to be the perfect base.”

The cottage has been furnished and decorated with modern style and flair, and the owners have thought of everything you might need for a comfortable stay. What a cosy place for a romantic candle-lit dinner, or to settle down with a book, or to work your way through the excellent selection of DVDs provided. We couldn't resist lighting the wood burner, even though it was only September. The cottage provided privacy, but the owners were conveniently close at hand, as were the village shop and pub. And it was a fine location for exploring towns, villages and walks in this attractive part of Hampshire. Altogether irresistible!

“We live in France and stay in the area quite regularly but this is the first time we have stayed at Shafts Barn; it won't be the last.”

From the website, it may look a little on the small side but it is a perfect size for two or a small group. The kitchen is clean and quirky and well-equipped. The living room is comfy; log fire, SKY tv( which is fab for sports fans) and snuggly sofas. The bedrooms and ensuites are fresh, modern yet charming. And even if you go in winter, the house is so warm, I'd be surprised if you even need the fire. The owners were welcoming and available if you needed advice but non-intrusive. We were very pleased to have found this gem of a cottage one of our favourite locations and we will definitely be back.

“This was my second visit to Shafts Barn, this time with two of my siblings.”

The barn is warm, comfortable and very well equipped. The village has all the amenities needed for a short break - shop, post office, pub, butcher. It is conveniently located for many local attractions. We did Winchester, Jane Austen's house and a trip to family graves in Gosport. The owners are very helpful and kind.

“We had a fantastic week at Shafts Barn.”

The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable, beautifully decorated and we enjoyed having dinner while the fire was burning. Our children are 4 and 6.5 years old and they loved the games and toys that were there. We all loved the walks around the area. It was great to be able to go on outings without having to get in the car. We also went on outings in the area, animal farm, Winchester which are nearby and great for children.

“My husband, I and two young children had the most amazing stay at Shafts Barn last week.”

The cottage is absolutely stunning and although immaculately presented, it felt like home (a pretty hard combination with 2 young children). “We wanted a romantic Christmas/New Year retreat and Shafts Barn was absolutely perfect - we enjoyed every moment.”

Phil and Jill were very welcoming. The local pub - The Thomas Lord - serves excellent food and real ale. The surrounding area is very pretty and we visited Winchester and Petersfield during our visit. Would go back in a heartbeat. Absolutely wonderful!

“Spent a happy week in November in this nicely renovated, tastefully furnished, comfortable property.”

Two bedrooms, one twin, one kingsize, each with ensuite bathroom, so flexible for any group up to 4 people. Warm in every room due to heating system, and also a woodburner in the living room for the pyromaniacs. Didn't use the garden due to the season, but it looked very private with fire-pit and barbecue. We used the cottage as a base to explore the area, visiting Winchester, Lymington, Fishbourne and enjoying the local walking on the South Downs. Plenty of relaxed country pubs around with pretty good food offerings, including The Thomas Lord, which is about 150m up the road! Perfectly matched our requirement and Phil and Jill, the friendly owners, live in the main house at the bottom of the driveway and were on-hand to offer help or advice if needed, but unobtrusive the rest of the time.

“Super barn conversion in a great location for exploring.”

The barn was clean, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. Jill & Phil really had thought of everything. We especially liked the log burner, even though the barn was lovely and warm all the time, and the numerous candles that made bath time special !! It was very private, and my husband and I enjoyed sitting in the garden to eat lunch or to plan the next days activities over a glass of wine. \ Phil & Jill were very helpful - not just with local knowledge, but by printing out routes for walks etc - but were never intrusive.

“We had a lovely stay at Shaft Barn.”

It is a well decorated and fully equipped cottage. A nice private garden with enough toys for our two young boys.The owners, Phil and Jill, are really friendly and helpful. The surrounding is great, with a lovely village (with all the basic needs provided) and within car distance you find Winchester or a nice sandy beach. We definitely recommend this cottage!

“We had a wonderful week in this delightful cottage.”

It is well equipped catering for your every need. Very tastefully decorated and furnished throughout and has the most comfortable beds, we all slept like logs. We took my elderly Mother with us and the fact it is all on one level made it very easy for her. Phil and Jill were wonderful hosts and made us so welcome when we arrived and it was nice to know that they were just at the bottom of the drive if we needed anything. We had nice weather but one evening was particularly gloomy and we lit the log burner making us feel very cosy. The location is perfect in a beautiful village with a well stocked shop with a cafÃ© at the rear, the local pub and a butcher's shop all just a few minute's walk down the road. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the drive where you can catch a bus into Winchester. Anybody wishing to stay in this area should give this accommodation serious consideration.

“The house is very welcoming and nicely furnished, more like a home than a holiday rental.”

There is everything one may wish for outside and in the house - a terrace with wood fire and barbecue, a small private garden, a lovely interior with two bedrooms and a larger sitting room, plus a large kitchen, fully equipped, with dining area. The owners are very welcoming, helpful and friendly, we felt like their guests in the very best sense. The village is also very nice (top in The Times UK villages) with a nice pub and village store just 5 minutes away on foot. We will definitely rent again.

“After a warm reception with a nice welcoming drink we stepped in to Shafts Barn - we fell in love instantly.”

The accommodation is well thought through, cosy and homely. The beds are magnificent, the kitchen well utilised and the shower and bathroom luxurious and clean. We had a lovely stay for a week in West Meon. This part of the country is very beautiful: each curve, each turn, each village offers breathtaking views. We had our daily picnic somewhere in the woods, we visited lots of places, had nice diners in local pubs and encountered interesting people. I travelled from Holland with two teenagers who were very taken by the good WiFi access and the superb beds! My son was over the moon with the trout he caught in the nearby River Rother. And my daughter was very pleased after shopping in London, which is in easy reach by train from Petersfield. All in all we are very enthusiastic about the accommodation, Jill and Phil as hosts, and the surroundings. We will definitely be back.

“Service when booking the barn was excellent.”

All information needed prior to visit was sent. Courtesy call the day before - gave recommendations for restaurants and made a booking for us which was great! On arrival we received a warm welcome. The barn itself is lovely. Thoughtful interior design, all the modern conveniences. Perfect size for 4 people and 2 kids but probably a squeeze for 6 adults. The 2 bathrooms are just perfect. The only downside is that you have to go through the bedrooms to access them. The location is very peaceful which was perfect as we wanted a relaxing weekend break. The restaurant they booked for us was 'Ye old George' in East Meon. The food was really delicious. We would definitely recommend Shafts Barn!

“Cannot praise this accommodation enough.”

It was very homely with every attention to detail along with literature to help you plan and enjoy the area. We were very fortunate to have amazing weather so took advantage of the lovely secluded garden. It's a great base to visit the beautiful villages and of course the Mary Rose museum. The owners were very helpful and friendly along with Holly the dog. Will definitely be back.

“We utterly loved our stay at Shafts Barn.”

The barn is beautifully finished from top to bottom. It's warm, comfortable and has everything you need for a brilliant stay. The outdoor space is wonderful too, and it's lovely having such a large drive way to park cars. Jill and Phil are incredible hosts giving you everything you need and more. Would certainly not hesitate in returning.

“We loved our week away here.”

We needed an intensive writing break, so sadly not much sight-seeing, but it shows you how wonderful the house was that we were happy to stay in nearly 24 hours apart from lovely walks/runs and the occasional dinner out. Philip and Jill are wonderful, helpful, and perfect hosts. The house itself is beautifully decorated. It really doesn't feel like a holiday rental; more like the home of a friend with better taste than you and much tidier than most homes are! It's comfortable for lounging, reading and writing, the kitchen is extremely well-furnished for keen cooks, the bath and shower rooms are luxurious and the beds comfortable. A log fire capped off the perfect cosy November hideaway. We hope to come again as soon as we can.

“I choose our holiday cottages very carefully.”

They must have a shower as well as a tub, comfortable furniture, wifi, washer/dryer, off road parking, central to many things, quiet, a private outdoor area, and have off-road parking. All boxes were ticked with Shafts Barn. This cottage was lovingly, and tastefully restored, and the beds are divine. It is far enough off the road that it is peaceful and quiet. The owners are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Just perfect. Local pubs, village store, tearoom, and butcher, plus walks from the front door. We had busy days out in Hampshire and it was a delight to be able to come home to Shafts Barn.

“A warm welcome from the owners of Shafts Barn started a great week in West Meon.”

The barn is tastefully decorated and provides everything you will need for a relaxing stay. Beautiful bathrooms with lovely walk in shower. Comfortable beds with clean fresh linen ensured a good sleep at night. Sky and a good WiFi connection were a bonus. The setting is tranquil and picturesque, with local shops and plenty of places to eat out nearby. The barn is ideally located for touring the area and the owners provide lots of helpful information and advice. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and look forward to returning to Shafts Barn soon.

“This was the only rental we found with two ensuite bathrooms, really appreciable as we were two couples.”

The bathrooms had all the necessary equipment and more; The beds and bedding were top notch and the owner's taste impeccable. Everything was extremely clean and tidy and there were guides and magazines galore. We found everything we needed in the kitchen for our evening meals and enjoyed shopping in the village shop and at the prize-winning butcher's. It was a pleasure to come home every evening to this cosy retreat. \ The owners went an extra mile to ensure our stay was most enjoyable by lending us an extra bike for the week and allowing us to pick fruits in season from their garden: apples and prunes, very thoughtful.

“Beautiful barn conversion and garden in a lovely location.”

Had everything a family could need with a great outdoor space which would have been ideal had the weather been warmer, but we made good use of it even so. The barn's owners were very welcoming and helpful with ideas for days out in the temperamental British summer. Well located for visiting Southampton, Portsmouth, Peppa Pig World and Marwell Zoo, so plenty to entertain the children.

“We all had a fabulous time at Shafts Barn in West Meon.”

Such care has been taken to ensure a perfect holiday, we had everything we needed and more. A lovely location - quiet village but has all that you need. Great location for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Gunwarf Quays, Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge, Winchester and of course Peppa Pig World! We had good weather most days but even when it wasn't so good we could enjoy the lovely cottage. It was exactly what I had in mind when we booked this holiday.

“Without doubt, one of the best barn conversions we have ever stayed in.”

This beautifully decorated accommodation was fitted with everything you could wish for, and we had a most enjoyable week in this extraordinarily comfortable home from home. Our hosts Phil and Jill thought of everything from picnic baskets to BBQs to games, all available for guests' use. We had no children with us, just a teenager. WiFi reception was excellent for him, but had we brought children, the hosts had left lots for them to do. Situated in a lovely village with local shops nearby, and numerous good quality pubs and restaurants within easy reach. For us it was an ideal base to explore Hampshire and Portsmouth, and return in the evening to the tranquility of this lovely barn. We would have no hesitation in recommending Shafts Barn as a place to stay.

“We stayed at the barn over the Apr/May bank holiday weekend.”

The barn is lovely, very well equipped, cosy and warm. It is beautifully decorated with stunning views. We were welcomed and shown round by the owner (Jill) which was very useful. It has two double bedrooms, each with good size bathrooms. My elderly mother could move around the barn with ease. It has a large kitchen area and good sized lounge with wood burner and TV. The barn is well situated for visiting local attractions such as Lyndhurst/Burley, Winchester etc. There are many good restaurants in the area. I would recommend this barn and would certainly return.

The property

Standing at the top of the owners' garden, some 50 meters from their 15th century cottage, Shafts Barn oozes character and style.

Stepping inside you'll be impressed by the vaulted ceilings with their original timber structure being a real feature throughout.

The interior is incredibly stylish, decorated with mainly neutral colours but there are lovely hints of colour particularly in the attractive shade of duck egg blue in the kitchen.

The cosy atmosphere will leave you feeling completely at home.

Outside there's a wonderfully sunny terrace with place for you to sit and while away a few relaxing hours.

All in all an idyllic retreat for a small family or two couples looking for a break away in the country.

Located near Petersfield and the River Meon, the village is close to a number of walking routes in the surrounding hills along the South Downs Way.
