The property

Abbotts Cottage is a delightful cottage, attached to the owner's property.

Located in the Stour Provost conservation area the cottage has been recently refurbished and extended in a contemporary style, though it still manages to retain its period charm, of which it has plenty, with its traditional stone walls and narrow staircase. The moment you walk through the garden gate you will be able to appreciate the owner's obvious love of gardening and this beautiful cottage garden (and its produce) is yours to enjoy.

Perfect for a couple or family with very young children, it's a snug and cosy place to retreat to lying as it does on a quiet country lane, just four miles from Shaftesbury.

If you don't fancy venturing too far, you'll find the private patio and garden a wonderful place to enjoy a meal or a glass of something nice during the summer months. However, please be warned......this is probably one of our most romantic cottages, with no less than five proposals of marriage here in the last few years!!

Over two floors. Two bedrooms: 1 x first floor double bedroom accessed via spiral staircase, 1 x first floor single sofa bed. Ground floor shower room with shower, WC and handbasin. Kitchen/diner. Sitting area.

About the location

Shaftesbury 5 miles.

A small bustling North Dorset market town in the heart of the Blackmore Vale, well served by a good selection of local shops, inns, restaurants, and a direct rail link from London to the West Country. The town was immortalised by John Constable's famous painting of The Old Town Bridge, which now hangs in the Tate Gallery. The Blackmore Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is part of the Stour Valley, vividly depicted by Thomas Hardy in Tess of The D'Urbervilles, as 'Vale of the little dairies', with lush green countryside and a 'patchwork quilt' of fields. The area abounds with pretty rural walks and offers numerous National Trust properties and historic houses within a short drive, such as Stourhead, Longleat and Wilton, whilst the wonderful Dorset Heritage Coast is also an easy drive.

Note: Due to the nature of this property, please take care as there are low beams, doorways and a steep spiral staircase.
