- Mr and Mrs M.,Mr and Mrs L. “Lovely cottage and village.”
Great walks for our dog.
- Mr and Mrs L.,Guest's review on TripAdvisor “Located in the middle of a quiet, unspoilt hamlet in the Wylye valley.”
Dozens of great walks from the cottage, many alongside the crystal clear Wylye river. The interior is comfortable and very adequately furnished. The 'double' room is a bit tight, but was just fine for us. It has a secluded 3-tiered garden and access to a consecrated, but not used church. Wonderful.

Picture the perfect , detached thatched cottage in your mind and something very much like Church Steps is likely to pop up.Although easily accessible via a main route, Church Steps is in an idyllic peaceful position in this tiny hamlet.
You may feel as if you've been transported away to another time but rest assured, everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable break is on hand.
Built of local limestone under a thatched roof, the cottage has been lovingly restored and both its chocolate-box exterior, complete with roses around the door, and well presented interior make this a highly desirable retreat to spend a few days' break or an extended holiday.
No detail has been overlooked, from the roaring log fire in the original inglenook fireplace on a cool day to the cosy beds for resting your weary head at the end of a hectic day.
There are fantastic walks along the meadows of River Wylye, a large chalk stream which runs 50 yards from the property.
An idyllic and calming place to really get away from it all.

SALISBURY
Andover 17 miles; Southampton 23 miles
The medieval city of Salisbury is the jewel in Wiltshire's crown, dominated by the majestic 13th century Gothic cathedral. The cathedral offers 750 years of history including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta, and Europe's oldest working clock. The surrounding cathedral close, full of architectural gems, is bordered by the River Avon and ancient Chilmark stone walls. The city offers historic streets with charming half-timbered buildings, traditional pubs, characterful shops and a twice-weekly market. Or, stroll along the Town Path and take in the awe-inspiring views across the water meadows towards the cathedral. After dark, there's a thriving arts scene, including one of the country's leading repertory theatres, a lively arts centre, cinema and a wealth of independent restaurants. Should you want to explore further afield then a short drive from Salisbury takes you to Stonehenge, the National Trust's Stourhead House and gardens, majestic Wilton House, as well as the New Forest National Park, and the Hampshire and Dorset coasts.
