“We had a lovely time at quither barn with our family.”
The barn is in a beautiful secluded location with every facility we needed, kitchen is well equipped.
The barn is in a beautiful secluded location with every facility we needed, kitchen is well equipped. The owners were extremely helpful and attentive. The hot tub is such a great addition to the property and was cleaned and maintained daily which was excellent. The only slight mark down would be the cleanliness of the barn which could do with a good dust in some of the less obvious places, but kitchen, bathrooms and bedding were all cleaned to a good standard so nothing major.
“Lovely cottage in peaceful location”
We had a lovely stay at Quither barn during October half term 2018. The cottage is off the beaten track but near enough to Ivybridge to pop out for a take away or some shopping. The cottage itself was lovely with a lounge and kitchen space on the first floor with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Two further bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. The hottub in the garden was an added bonus in the pretty grounds which most of the cottage overlooked. The living space was a little bit tired and we did seem to be overun with flies during our stay. We would also recommend taking towels as the towels provided were very old and not very soft. The cottage is in a great location to get to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe and plenty of countryside walks and pubs in the area.
“Beautiful location close to excellent Dartmoor walks and other attractions.”
Booking was easy and advertising materials very accurate. Owners friendly and helpful. Accommodation clean, comfortable and well laid out. Super pet friendly and safe garden for 3 dogs. Loved the layout of the stepping stones and close proximity to country life, including the Alpacas and cows!! We loved spending time in the hot tub although we did have to clean some 'scum marks' from around the inside surface. The cream tea on arrival was lovely with home-made scones too!! Lovely modern decor in a stone built building. Our stay was amazing and we will always remember it with fondest thoughts. Parking for 3 cars was a bonus. I even remembered some musical notes from many years ago and had a little tinkle on the piano's ivory keys!! Have already shown lots of friends photographs and recommended that they visit!!
“Lovely time had by all!”
Great place to stay and everything we need. Graham the owner is a lovely and informative host , although we were unable to find the wild swimming in Dartmoor!! The hot tub was good fun and lovely sitting inat night looking at the stars. THANK YOU!\ Lee, Naomi and family\ Aug 2018\
“We had a great time in your lovely cottage.”

“Despite the rain, we had a fabulous week here.”
We all loved the hot tub and watching the alpacas in the field. We had many days out. The model village in Babbacombe was superb and well worth a visit. We can highly recommend 'The Ivy Fish Bar' in town!
“What a wonderful stay.”
A beautiful house, fantastic walks, amazing weather and great hot tub. Graham and Sylvia were so friendly and helpful. We loved it here.
“Thank you so much for the warm welcome, use of this beautiful place and fantastic time in the hot tub - it has all been quite wonderful!”
“We really enjoyed the use of the hot tub and walks from the door step.”
Graham and Sylvia are lovely people, lots of advice to offer on what to do and where to go
“Perfect place for a super family Christmas.”
Excellent facilities. Lots of peaceful lanes for dog walking. Children loved it!
“We really enjoyed the hot tub and loved all the walks and especially enjoyed the Alpacas and the friendly owners”
“Beautiful house and gorgeous surroundings!”
The weather was very nice and sunny all week and the hot tub was a lovely surprise. Love the Alpacas! Thank you so much Graham and Sylvia!
“A perfect place for a family get together and a very practical environment, especially with two dogs.”
The hot tub was particularly welcome and set a lovely secure garden. Perhaps not ideal for very small children but not a problem for us.
“Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in this lovely house.”
Hot tub fabulous. Everything we wanted. We even played the piano. Great idea having the Bluetooth player
“This is a fantastic property that is equipped with absolutely everything you could need including its quirky features.”
The garden was completely secure for our small dog and bigger than it looks on the photos and the hot tub was a bonus. This is such a picturesque area and Quither makes the most of it. Although you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere you are only a couple of miles from civilisation. It was a pleasure to sit in the main room upstairs and just lose yourself looking out of the windows at the scenery and the Alpacas! Definitely a property I want to return to. The Ship Inn at Ugborough is well worth a visit and the staff are very welcoming. A beautiful little village.
Dating back nearly 200 years is this wonderful barn - located down a very quiet, secluded lane convenient for both Dartmoor and also the coast!
Quither (old English word for 'peaceful hamlet') is an historic barn that's been converted in a spacious holiday home for up to 8 people. Arranged as 'upside down' owing to its position on a bank, the building makes the most of its setting and views, and you'll be amazed at the peace and tranquility as well as the lovely views.
A first-rate option if you're planning a get-together with friends or a family celebration.
Inside the barn is delightfully quirky, there's an open plan living area which gives guests a real feeling of spaciousness with it's high, vaulted ceiling and exposed timber beams, a large wood burner for cosy winter evenings and good sized bedrooms throughout each with a TV so you can enjoy a good old-fashioned lie in - but with such beauty surrounding you, we suggest you get up and get out!!
There are plenty of features guests will appreciate such as comfy sofas, a well-equipped kitchen and even a piano if you feel the need for some entertainment.
Outside is a treat - A HOT TUB - to round off a list headed 'everything you could need for a great holiday'.
Your pooch will love this place too - it has some outstanding walks from your door and with the south Devon coast just 6 miles away and Dartmoor less than 2 miles away, you really do have everything on your doorstep.

About the location
Plymouth 12 miles.
Often referred to as the ‘Gateway to South Dartmoor’, Ivybridge is set in one of the most beautiful areas of Devon and provides the perfect base from which to explore the county’s glorious coast and countryside. The town’s namesake, the Ivy Bridge, is a 13th century construction originally designed for packhorses and widened during the age of coach travel. Nowadays, it is a popular landmark on the town’s Heritage Trail, which also takes in other noteworthy historical buildings, such as a paper mill which remains Ivybridge’s major industrial employer. Some of the most architecturally pleasing sights in the town are the aqueduct, now a listed site, and the much photographed remains of a viaduct built by Brunel. This riverside town offers a great local shopping experience, with a variety of independent shops in the compact town centre making browsing a pleasure. When it’s time for a break, take your pick from the many cafés, tearooms and bakeries in the covered arcade serving delicious food and treats to help you recharge your batteries! Just on the brink of Dartmoor National Park, Ivybridge is ideally located to explore the 368 square miles of rolling hills, rugged granite outcrops and fresh, clean air. With over 450 miles of public rights of way, you’ll find enough walks to keep you busy for a year, let alone a week! If you’d like to mix it up a bit, cycling, horse-riding, climbing and kayaking opportunities abound. Nearby Wembury is the starting point for the Two Moors Way, a 201 mile coast to coast walking route which passes through Ivybridge and continues on through high moorland and deep wooded valleys, taking in some of Devon’s most unspoilt rural scenery. At 17 miles long, the Erme-Plym Trail is slightly shorter and leads in the opposite direction through some pleasant countryside, passing the pretty Hooe Lake en route. The area surrounding Ivybridge offers a fabulous variety of attractions and days out, from the stunning beaches of the South Devon coast, to the bustling city of Plymouth.
