“Loved to studio and we had an excellent week - very much appreciated the Prosecco & goodies basket!”

! The only down side was no internet connection, therefore, very limited choice of channels on the TV.

“Was nice but bed very small.”

Only a double and very creaky and lumpy. Not great. The sofa and chair felt grubby and so I put a large towel and throw over them. The whole place a lot smaller than I thought especially the area where the hot tub was The towels had seen better days

“Had an absolute amazing stay here at Oakdean, the hosts were so friendly and welcoming, and we had a lovely hamper and prosecco on arrival, they went above and beyond to make sure we had a brilliant stay and gave us lots of insight in things/places to do/go in the area.”

The place was so quirky and done to an incredible standard, and the hot tub at the end of the evening was very inviting. Definitely be going back for another stay.

“Was met by lee at oakdean studios very friendly.”

this property had just been finished we were first to stay so gave us free use of hot tub very much appreciated very quirky property lee has done a very clever renovation with salvage items that we loved the extra touches went above and beyond what we normally expect even thought of the dog. all in all a lovely place to stay very handy for forest of dean walks.busy road outside but once in bedroom don't hear it so didn't bother us just means good links to wherever you want to go

The property

A delightful and quirky conversion which has created a charming 1 bed retreat in the centre of the ancient village of Blakeney and on the south-east edge of the Forest of Dean. The clever use of recycled materials give the cottage a warm and homely feeling, coupled with the newly installed hot-tub provides the perfect balance between the old and the new. 2 well behaved dogs welcome at a charge of £25 per dog per week. This is a perfect retreat from which to explore this lovely part of the country. Entering the property directly from the street, the cottage immediately strikes you as being light and airy, with the large, street facing windows allowing you to keep an eye on the world outside.

Situated mainly on one level (you go up 3 steps into the bathroom), this attractive cottage has an open plan living area with reclaimed oak flooring and space to relax after a hard day exploring, a traditional well-equipped kitchen.

This then leads through to the cosy dining area, off which you will find the family bathroom, where you can soak away your aches and pains in the roll top bath.

To the rear of the property you will find the double bedroom looking out onto the rear private courtyard with hot-tub. From the front of the cottage you are immediately in the centre of this bustling village, with shops pub and if cooking isn't your thing, then you can pop to the takeaway which is literally yards away. Walks to the Forest of Dean can be enjoyed from the doorstep, or travel a little further afield to enjoy the historic towns of Monmouth, Chepstow and Ross on Wye There is currently no Wi-Fi at the property.

BLAKENEY

Gloucester 16 miles; Monmouth 16 miles; Ross-on-Wye 17 miles.

The ancient village of Blakeney lies on the southeast edge of the Royal Forest of Dean and was once a site of a Roman Villa dating back to 75AD. Equidistant to Gloucester and Monmouth, the village boasts many 16th and 17th century buildings, with a charming 16th century coaching inn, and also offers a good selection of amenities including a fish and chip shop, village store and Post Office, as well as numerous walks and cycle routes. The magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts numerous trails that can be explored on foot, by bike or horseback. Caving, abseiling and a high wire rope course can be enjoyed by the more adventurous, whilst fishing, golf, kayaking and canoeing are other popular activities available in this unspoilt area. The eerie caverns and ancient caves of Clearwell are close by, as are the Gloucestershire Way and Offa's Dyke Path for wonderful walks. Close by, Symonds Yat boasts natural scenery and straddles the beautiful River Wye with its magnificent limestone rock, popular with climbers, and well known for its viewpoint. Visit the historic town of Monmouth, which offers a fusion of elegant Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards, or the lovely town of Ross-on-Wye with its timbered Tudor houses and delightful riverside walks, both home to excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. The unspoilt Malvern Hills, Brecon Beacon National Park and Black Mountains, as well as lovely Cotswold towns and villages are just a little further afield.
