“Sophie, the owner, is such a lovely lady.”

We were left some lovely goodies on arrival. The apartment has everything you need to enjoy your stay. it is situated on the Green at Calne and is like being transported back into a dickensian novel. also a fab base to visit such beautiful villages such as Lacock and Castle Combe. “The apartment has a spacious bedroom and sitting room with an excellent working area.”

There is a large bathroom with a powerful over bath shower. It is in a peaceful location on the green, with convenient parking and a short 5 minute walk to the shops and supermarkets. The wifi was reliable and Sophie and Mike were hugely hospitable and greatly added to the experience!

“We were met by our host on arrival - the place was cosy and had a lovely ambiance that worked for us.”

A couple of minor issues with the gas fire that we highlighted to them and they were there within minutes and had it sorted. The washing machine was helpful. Location in town good. Would stay again.

It is very comfortable and roomy. It has all the facilities you can possibly need and Sophie was a great host. It has a lovely view onto The Green, and it’s nearness to this area was very useful bearing in mind we had our dog with us. I would highly recommend it.

“HorseBrook House was everything and more!”

The owner Sophie was lovely so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment itself is gorgeous extremely comfortable and had everything that one could need. The view was idyllic and very quiet, yet there is a lot to do fairly close by didn't have to travel far. I would highly recommend this lovely apartment Marian

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Horsebrook House Apartment and appreciated the efforts made to allow our same day booking.”

Sophie welcomed us and explained everything; the apartment is a comfortable and welcoming space with good levels of equipment for cooking etc in the compact kitchen area. The location is very quiet and the bed very comfortable. The location is excellent for visiting the many attractions in the area. It is a short walk into town to eat out. Recommended.

“A very pleasant apartment which was formerly the home of a member of our host's family, hence the warm ambience.”

The bedroom is large, the bed comfortable and the location on The Green ensures peaceful surroundings. The small kitchen works surprisingly well, with lots of extra shelving and cupboards in the adjacent lobby. The living/dining room has everything for a pleasant evening indoors and the central heating is controlled from within the apartment. Sophie (the owner) and husband Mike are on hand if needed and provide a generous welcome pack on arrival. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and would definitely return.

“Very comfortable warm apartment in a beautiful Georgian house.”

Owner very nice. Cosy log burner, very comfy bed, clean kitchen with everything you need for a few days or weeks. We had three days at the end of September and it was a pleasure to arrive back to the apartment each day. We took our little cocker spaniel. There is a fenced off area witch is safe for a dog and a nice large entrance where you can wipe the dog and take off your wellies and shoes. Would definitely go back. Also pub at the end of the road and town within walking distance.

“Ground floor with views from living room and bedroom over the pretty green gave this a very rural feel.”

The property is very good for dog owners. Our Ridgeback had plenty of space to lay out, and the enclosed front area/terrace and stone floor hallway made getting a wet dog cleanly into the property very easy. Comfortable accommodation as per the photographs, except that they do not do the property justice and appeared to make the rooms look smaller than they actually are. Well appointed and everything worked and clean. Soft towels and toiletries provided were very welcome. Owner very pleasant and approachable. We would be happy to make a return visit.

Horsebook House Apartment is a quirky yet attractive Georgian property, furnished and presented in a distinct style with a number of antiques and objects d'art giving it a unique appeal.

Once inside the ground floor apartment you'll find very comfortable, self-catering accommodation with bright and spacious rooms which allow the light to flood in, particularly in the Living Room and bedroom.We can assure you that relaxing on the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the peaceful comings and goings on The Green pass by, will be a highlight of each day.

You'll feel as if you're in a rural setting, yet is only a few minutes' walk from all the amenities offered by this historic North Wiltshire town.

Devizes 5 miles; Avebury 6 miles; Bath 15 miles.

The ancient market town of Calne nestles in the valley of the River Marden, lying in the heart of the picturesque North Wiltshire countryside, below the Marlborough Downs. Calne is a friendly, bustling community with a good range of local shops, pubs and restaurants and an historic conservation area, and makes an ideal base from which to explore this fascinating area. Silbury Hill, the highest man made mound in Europe, and the famous stone circle at Avebury are only a short drive away, while the magnificent house and gardens at Bowood, on the edge of Calne, are well worth a visit. Visit the pretty National Trust village and abbey at Lacock, take a relaxing, narrow boat trip on the nearby Kennet and Avon canal or enjoy the cosmopolitan city of Bath, also within easy reach.
