The Booking Information page includes some important information about our holidays, which we hope you will find useful. Do take the time to read it through; just click on any of the links to go straight to a particular section.
Occupancy is from Saturday to Saturday, unless stated otherwise and except for weekend or mid-week breaks. Please do not arrive earlier than 3 p.m. to allow for proper preparation of your accommodation in between lets. A few days before arrival please contact the owner to give them your estimated time of arrival. Please aim to vacate your accommodation not later than 10 a.m. on the day of departure.
All our properties are cleaned by the owners or their caretakers in between lets. However, please make sure that you leave your accommodation in a clean and tidy condition at the end of your stay. Cleaning materials are provided in every cottage for your use.
Please report any breakages or damage to the owner or owner's representative which occur during your stay. Any broken or damaged items should be replaced or paid for as appropriate before departure. A few owners require a refundable security deposit, payable on booking. Property descriptions indicate where this is due.
Dogs and other pets are welcome at some of our cottages where stated in the property description, at an extra charge of £25.00 per pet per week or £18.00 per pet per short break. In order that cottage owners continue to allow pets at their property, we would ask dog owners, in particular, to observe the following rules:
If, for allergy reasons, you are specifically looking for a property at which pets are never present, it is best to call us first. You should not assume that 'Sorry no pets' in a property description is a guarantee that no pets (the owners' pets for example) have been present at the property.
Guide dogs are accepted at properties which do not normally allow pets. There is no charge for this but please call us first to give us all the relevant information so that we can pass this on to the property owner.
The number of persons occupying a property must not exceed the number stated in the property description. Only those listed on the Reservation Form may stay at the property, although it is usually possible, with the owner's permission, to invite a few friends or relatives for a meal providing they do not stay overnight.
If you prefer to go away after the summer rush has died down or before it even starts, a number of Hideaways provide very reasonably priced accommodation 'out of season'. Many are centrally heated, with perhaps even a log fire to warm you after a brisk walk in the countryside. Most Hideaways cottages are available all the year round and we are only too happy to advise you on both the availability and suitability of our cottages outside the main season.
The following items are standard in all our properties and are not therefore mentioned in property descriptions. Kitchens: Electric or gas cooker. Fridge. Adequate cutlery, crockery, glassware and utensils, iron and ironing board. Bathrooms: Bath and/or shower, wash hand basin, w.c. (our property descriptions give details of shower facilities). Sitting and Dining Rooms: Sofas, armchairs, dining table and chairs for the number of occupants. Bedrooms: Bedroom furniture. Gardens: Garden furniture. All our owners are required to meet a standard inventory of equipment.
Bed linen, and very often towels as well, are provided at nearly all properties. These are normally included in the rental price but occasionally an extra hire charge is made and the amount due must be paid to the owner on arrival. At a few properties bed linen is not available. Please consult the property description for details.
Cots and sometimes high chairs are available, where stated in the description, at no extra charge. They are for use by a small child aged under 24 months and are not intended for use by 3 to 4 year olds. N.B. please take your own cot linen as this is not provided.
Internet access is provided at a number of our properties. Guests should note that the broadband speed will vary and unexpected interruptions to service, for which the owner is not responsible, can occasionally happen. Refunds and reductions will not normally be given in these circumstances.
Heating, whether in the form of central heating, gas or electric heaters, solid fuel heating or night storage heating, is normally included in the rent during the main season but often at an extra cost during the winter months. Please consult property descriptions for details. Any monies due should be paid direct to the property owner at the end of your stay unless an advance deposit against utilities is being held by the property owner. Please consult individual property descriptions for details.
Some of our properties are more suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. If you have additional needs or special requirements of any kind, we ask that you discuss with us the property's suitability before you make a booking. Please call our Reservations Line (01747 828170).
Where a swimming pool is offered at a property, use of this facility is not supervised by the owner and guests are responsible for using it sensibly and in accordance with any rules or guidelines that the owner may stipulate. Children should always be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
