Wiltshire has been in the culinary spotlight recently, following two exciting developments within the local food industry that have taken on nationwide significance. As a highly esteemed celebrity chef prepares to unveil a brand new restaurant in the county, and local chefs gain recognition among elite circles, Wiltshire is becoming a rising star of the British food scene.

Food lovers are waiting in eager anticipation as they count down the days until a new restaurant opens in Marlborough – by none other than chef Rick Stein himself. As The Wiltshire Times reports, the new eatery is due to open on Saturday 15th October, right in the heart of Marlborough town centre. This is Stein’s first venture in Wiltshire, creating great excitement for the chef himself as well as his fans. He says, “It is very exciting to be opening a restaurant here, everyone is filled with enthusiasm.”

The restaurant will support the local area by sourcing meat and game from a nearby farm. Those looking to catch a moment with Stein will be out of luck on opening night, as he will be filming in Padstow. But with some fantastic chefs and the delicious local produce of the area, the new restaurant is set to be something special.

Stein will, however, have competition. Wiltshire is a haven for foodies, and there are plenty of upmarket restaurants to sample. In fact, two establishments in Wiltshire have recently been awarded repeat Michelin stars – the restaurant world’s ultimate accolade. The Harrow in Little Bedwyn has received a star for an eleventh consecutive year, and Whatley Manor’s restaurant, The Dining Room, has maintained its two star Michelin rating for the ninth year running!

With a multitude of restaurants run by highly talented chefs who have cooked for clients as impressive as the Queen herself, visitors looking for the perfect foodie retreat need look no further than a Wiltshire holiday!
