Are you planning on visiting Hampshire and The New Forest this summer? You’re in for a treat with all...
Anyone who fancies an exciting lesson in history whilst staying in holiday cottages in Sussex this October can immerse themselves in an important historical event as the annual re-enactment of the 1066 Battle of Hastings returns for another year.
Over 1000 soldiers will clash on the very site of the battle in which William the Conqueror famously beat Harold Godwinson to win the English throne. From 13th-14th October, visitors will be able to walk into an 11th century world, including a market place with crafts to suit the period and a Norman Cavalry display. Watch chainmail and weapons makers ply their trade, medieval falconry experts show off their birds of prey, and see the Bayeux Tapestry in an amusing display.
You can even get stuck in with the chance to hone archery skills and children can have their very own mock Battle of Hastings too. The weekend is one of the highlights of the calendar in Sussex, so make sure to head to the town of Battle between 10am and 4pm on 13th or 14th October for a fantastic day out.
