There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
A new bike route is being created in Dorset which will see the county linked with Normandy in France, something that anyone staying in Dorset cottages in the future will soon be able to enjoy.
The Petit Tour de Manche is just one of 3 new cycling routes that will link France and the UK as part of a £6.8 million project. The links to France from the UK will be provided by ferry. In Dorset itself, the new route will take cyclists past some of the most wonderful sights in the county, including along the Jurassic Coast, Studland, Corfe Castle, Dorchester and Weymouth.
£270,000 will be spent on the cycling routes in Dorset, which will include making improvements to existing cycling routes, completing missing links between paths, and cycle parking will also be installed at key attractions. So, on a bike ride through the lovely Dorset countryside cyclists can also stop along the way for a few hours of entertainment.
Cycling will surely be a huge draw for tourists once the routes have finished being created, and perhaps a few keen bike riders will be brave enough to try the cycle to France whilst in Dorset.
