There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
The Winchester-based zoo picked up the award for Event of the Year after putting on a Rise of the Dinosaurs event in 2014 that saw animatronic dinosaurs call the zoo home for a few weeks. For the second-year running, they fought off some tough competition to win the silver award in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category.
James Cretney, the Marwell Zoo chief executive, told the Hampshire Chronicle, “I am delighted that we have been awarded silver in two categories. This reflects the enormous amount of hard work the Marwell staff put into developing exciting and innovative events to enthral and captivate our visitors.”
In the small visitor attraction of the year award, the Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum walked away with the bronze award. The Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum in Swanwick in Hampshire takes visitors through the old brickwork factory, which closed in 1974, and guides guests through what exactly happened at the factory back in its heyday.
So if you are on a break in holiday cottages in Winchester this Christmas or in 2015, a visit the award-winning Marwell Zoo could make for a great day out.
