Are you planning on visiting Hampshire and The New Forest this summer? You’re in for a treat with all...
Anyone looking for a cultured afternoon whilst staying in Wiltshire cottages is in for a treat this October; author Anne de Courcy will be hosting a Literary Afternoon Tea at Bowood Hotel.
The author will be holding a discussion on her latest book ‘The Fishing Fleet: Husband Hunting in the Raj’ in the beautiful setting of Bowood Hotel. On top of this, visitors will be able to enjoy a lovely afternoon tea with Anne de Courcy, so in between bites of a scone visitors can take the opportunity to ask Anne all the burning questions you have always wanted to know.
‘The Fishing Fleet’ tells the untold story of women in the 19th century, a time when many of the eligible men in Britain went to India. Women in search of a husband followed suit, and the novel is told using a treasure trove of first hand sources that add a distinct colour to the downward spiral of life after the whirlwind of social gatherings in India faded into the past.
So, for a lovely day out in Wiltshire, make sure to head to Bowood Hotel on 17th October at 3.30pm and bring your literary enthusiasm too. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased on the day.
