There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
Hastings Fishermen’s Museum is celebrating the 100th birthday of its main exhibit, the Enterprise, on 14th October, and the museum will be having a very special birthday party which any and all are invited to.
The Enterprise is the last of the Hastings luggers, old sailing fishing boats which were used in the past. The boat only just fits in the old Fishermen’s Church, complete with masts and rigging. The church became the museum in 1956 and the boat is surrounded by other fascinating fishing artefacts, from models, photos and paintings to nets, ropes and more.
For the birthday celebration there will be a special exhibition of the life of the Enterprise in the Vestry Gallery, as well as a special performance from the Hastings Sea Shanty Singers from 3pm.
Anyone staying in Sussex cottages can have themselves a great day out and join in the birthday celebrations. Why not learn a sea shanty or two? Just head down to Hastings Fishermen’s Museum on Rock-a-Nore Road from 10am-4pm.
