There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
The Hampshire Fare Food Festival is all set to return this summer, providing a fantastic chance for locals and visitors alike to grab a taste of the finest local produce.
An event which won the Silver Award in the Tourism Event of the Year category at the 2013 Beautiful South Awards, the Hampshire Fare Food Festival provides a host of events across the county to raise awareness of the variety of food and drink which is created in Hampshire.
Having worked alongside local farmers and producers for more than two decades, the event has been slowly growing in popularity and last year’s event alone attracted more than 180,000 people through 80 different events – providing great fun for those already enjoying their cottage holidays in Hampshire.
Great for local economy
Attracting so many people during the period, it should come as little surprise that the event generated more than £3.25 million for the local economy. As the event is not-for-profit, it relies on on-going support from a number of corporate sponsors.
Mike Wright, chairman of the Hampshire Fare, is delighted that the fair is set to return, saying: “We are passionate about local food and we are determined to put Hampshire on the map as a food destination.”
The 2014 instalment is set to feature from 1 July until August 3, and the wealth of events on offer include everything from farm tours to brewery tours as well as markets and fairs, cookery demonstrations, wine, beer and cider festivals and summer fetes.
