Dorset is known for having a landscape and coastline that make it one of the best for walking, and this week the Guardian has come up with a list of the 10 best walks in Dorset.

Parts of the Jurassic coast feature frequently on the list, which was compiled by a Guardian reporter who interviewed a number of National Trust rangers. The walks listed offer rambles to suit all abilities and ages, ranging from 1 mile to 4 miles.

Their suggestions include exploring the ruins of Corfe Castle, walking alongside the beautiful chalk cliffs and the intriguing geological formation called Old Harry Rocks. You can also take a trip to Brownsea Island which is teeming with wildlife.

The list is available on the Guardian website and a route guide and map of each walk can be downloaded before heading out. Check out the rangers’ suggestions of cafes and activities that you can try on one of these lovely walks from Dorset cottages in the countryside.
