The Cotswolds is officially one of the most popular places to find English country cottages after it was found that the area is the second home capital of Gloucestershire.
According to the latest census, almost 23,000 people have a second home in the county and 5,898 of these own one in the Cotswolds.
These figures cement the Cotswolds as one of the top places to find lovely country cottages in the UK. This area is appealing as a holiday destination for a number of reasons, including its beautiful natural scenery, lovely country walks, calm and quiet atmosphere and designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
These figures came from the office for National Statistics who completed a census in 2011, and these figures look set to continue for many years. As well as second homes, plenty of holiday cottages can be found in the Cotswolds, providing the perfect base for exploring this lovely part of Britain.
